Serious question. Why are we pretending Nick Saban is off the menu?

He is in the title game mostly on luck.
One lucky break all season, which happens with most teams that get to play in the National Championship Game.

Regardless of any situation, Gus Malzahn will be staying at Auburn.

The one guy who I think gets a phone call is Pat Fitzgerald. Just because he is young and has shown he can win on an uneven playing field. But I do not think he will get offered.

I guess I will stay with O'Brien as my pick.
well, it will depend on which faction is running the coaching search. Is it the new money people that want to back up the Brinks truck and land a big fish (ie, someone who has won a championship) at any cost, or is it the Mack Brown-loving crew that wants to hire a younger Mack Brown?

Fitzgerald would be a good hire, but I think it is only after the big fish have said no.

Which game was that? And name these five lucky breaks you are referring to.

Id keep an eye on the guy from Vandy...

If you cant get one of these three
Saban
Briles
Shaw

Malzahn is locked in till Jan 10th ish, no way Texas wait that long for he or jimbo

Shaw and Charlie Strong are out because I dont think UT would hire a Black coach...(Shame to Say cause I would love to have Shaw at LSU)

And I dont see too many leaving the NFL or at least the ones that i would want...Harbaughs/ Carroll/ Belichick/ Peyton

Id get the guy at Vandy, I think he has the best Odds of getting it...
I heard Marc Richts name floated earlier...good name/ reasonable choice/ just dont see that happening either..

I really don't understand why people keep parroting this aggie line. Texas is the most liberal school in the Big 12, the administration would love a minority hire.

Texas should go with a guy with extensive experience, someone who has been a head coach in the Big 12 and the SEC, someone who has won a NC, had a heisman winner, who was a DC for UT when they won the NC, a man of integrity,

Texas and the Nation need CGC...

Texas students and faculty may be liberal but how many of the UT wealthy donors are liberal?

You were saying?

(that's the Littlefield fountain, Jefferson Davis statue, Albert Sidney Johnson statue and the John H. Reagan statue)

So the debt was actually paid off? That's the biggest question mark about your whole story. If that happened then Saban is cornered at this point. It's just hard to believe.

50/50? Rich people love to patronize minorities.

I'm just saying it is ludicrous to suggest that Texas wouldn't hire a black guy. Until actual proof is shown, I just assume this narrative is being pushed by jealous aggies.

It was paid off and is in whoevers name it's in now. It's just not in sabans anymore.

What's going to happen now?

1. the UT job is open officially when last week it wasn't.

2. Saban doesn't have a buy out and could leave at any time

3. UT will offer a significant amount of money to saban. If he turns it down well... Idk what's up

Of course it is. Only now they cast stones because they hired Sumlin. Statues that are decades old somehow mean we would never hire a black coach. Aggie delusion at its finest.

Doc, last week you thought Saban would accept by Tuesday of this week, do you see this the same now or a different time line?
