So glad SOS left early so we could get a leg up on everyone...

I'm not sure why anyone bought that as a legit reason for him to step down mid season.
He could have simply announced he would retire once the season was over and kept coaching while they started to look for his replacement.

The only thing it really did do was expose the poor quality of the supporting coaches that Spurrier hired. It also showed that Elliott couldn't hack it as HC, and I honestly thought he had some potential just six months ago.
This has been an unmitigated disaster. Tanner has whiffed on his big candidates, and the decent backup options (Campbell, Babers, etc) are already gone.
When this is all over with, and USC has some slapdick coach hired, the least Tanner could do is fire Holbrook, resign as AD, and rescue the baseball program from the mediocrity that he himself put it in by hiring Holbrook in the first place.

Love how everyone wants to romanticize the way Spurrior left.
He quit on you. He quit on his players. He quit on his coaches. He quit on the fans. He quit on the administration. He's a frickin quitter.

@BruceFeldmanCFB: #Auburn DC & ex #UF coach Will Muschamp is getting some consideration from #SouthCarolina for its HC vacancy, source tells @FoxSports.

I wouldn't even be mad. That would be hilarious.

Damn. Just damn. What a difference a year makes for the ole rep.
At least you would have a good defense.

I'd melt as bad as I would with an Elliot hire.
