flimsy assurances about his ability to bring in certain assistants, assurances which predictably turned out to have little or no value.

If Canada (a Broyles finalist) is hired, then I would say Coach O backed up the assurance he may have provided in his interview.

Additionally, Coach Dave Aranda and his whole defensive staff was kept on.

And considering what our Offensive Staff did on an interim basis, adding someone of Canada's caliber would also be backing up those assurances.

When the dust settles, Coach O's staff will be rock solid.

You don't know dick.

Except that Kiffin was never coming here. And O was formulating his recruiting plan based on him being here. And the shite hit the fan 3 days ago. And Ed O is now trying to fix it

Lets see if I know whats coming? Lets see if he waits to announce an OC hire after the bowl, like he alluded to? And hire someone that wasn't available until now?

I think we’re going to take our time," Orgeron said. "We’re going to see how everything pans out. There’s some things that we want to get done, people that we’re recruiting. Obviously, if the right guy is available, we’ll hire him. But I don’t anticipate that happening before the game.

Or if he announces it soon, like he was told to. With a guy that's been available all along?

I'm not ready to post a thread about this yet, but Corey Raymond is being heavily courted. They are fighting to keep him. He wants to be a DC.

I would be surprised if he is at LSU next season at this point.

Do you not see the irony in claiming, on the one hand, that you "chose not to melt down" and then, on the other hand, posting juvenile, profanity laced tirades deploying triple exclamation points in the style of a thirteen year old girl's text message?

Yeah but "Dat binder though" is real highbrow, sophisticated stuff.

Look man, we actually agree on the hiring process. I think it was a pretty screwed up process myself. All I'm saying is that nothing we say on here is going to change it and I firmly believe that Orgeron deserves to chance to prove himself. Many people on here have melted down about it.

I also have a really hard time believing that Orgeron "promised" Alleva he would bring in Kiffin and there is absolutely no proof that he did. Not gonna fault him if he said he had a great chance at Kiffin. That isn't a promise. But somehow on here there are people posting about how O made that promise. Very counterproductive, and the man deserves better until he demonstrates otherwise.

How long has Orgeron been HC??? He's secured Aranda, and on the verge of hiring a great OC. He fired Peveto. Brennan will sign w/ LSU. Narcisse has played like 4 games in the last 2 yrs. Maybe Canada opens up other QB recruits. How about seeing how the bowl game goes, and how recruiting ends up in early Feb.? The panties in a wad crowd are really pathetic.

Amen. Great post. Saban was right about the "Catastrophe Syndrome" crowd.

This would be good. If the hire comes this week, like the rumors are implying, then maybe we still get BOTH QBs. We really need 2 in this class, and they've both been committed long enough that other options would be limited at this point. The kid who is enrolling early at State (Thompson, I think) is the only other one we've really had much contact with in this class, and he has been gone for a while. Miles and Cam decided to go with Narcisse over him over a year ago.

If you look at Canada's offenses at Pitt and NCSU, it can be altered to fit either guy. With O's comments (at least the more recent one) about wanting to use dual-threat QBs going forward, I have a feeling that we will see more of the NCSU spread than the Pitt pro-style after year 1. Hopefully that is enough to keep Narcisse away from the Barn.

Exactly. Orgeron never promised Kiffin. He wanted Kiffin bc he can run a versatile offense. Kiffin falls through and he's actually vetted other candidates in case of such an emergency. The day kiffin goes to FAU, Canada is on a plane. At least wait until he fails to call him a failure. He scrapped a season and made the best of it. Even the players said he brought the team closer together. Canada is likely the best available OC. Narcisse's heart has always been with auburn and was likely always going to go there. Nothing has imploded. Aranda got the solid LB recruit we needed. Akers and Wilson would be a cherry on top, both of which are at least seriously considering LSU.

Narcisse loves auburn man, he's going to auburn. He's out.

Not all of us who point out some problems or mistakes that O has made getting started want him to fail or think the ship is inevitably headed for the rocks. Not all of us are obsessed with binders or what he may or may not have promised Joe Alleva to get the job. It isn't all black or all white. The man isn't perfect. Just because I and others don't agree with everything he's done doesn't necessarily mean we don't support him or want him to succeed as head coach. Stating an opinion that you don't agree with isn't automatically melting down. It's a message board. Stating opinion sprinkled with varying degrees of facts is what everyone does here.

I'm not totally convinced that he's gone yet. Stidham has 2 or 3 years of eligibility left, where Etling is done after next year, here. If he likes what Canada has to say, I think LSU still has a strong case to make for getting him on the field sooner. It would be him, Brennan and Scott battling for the job, and he certainly has a lot of physical advantages running a spread offense, assuming the knees are solid after a reshirt year and a lot of strength and conditioning.

It would suck to lose him... Cant blame him for trying to move up in the ranks. Any potential names being thrown around to where he may go?

Wasn't Texas rumored to be hard after him? That would just be as secondary coach though, right?

That's interesting. I guess maybe someone like Strong would maybe give him a shot at USF. Looks like another test for Coach O.

When lane interviewed st Houston O started preparations. Nothing wrong with this.. he had plenty of time.. I've been critical of O but nothing wrong with his process. If he really wanted lane no reason not to wait until he knows for sure if he's not getting him. Most OC moves are after bowls anyway

Nothing has happened yet. He actually vetted and interviewed people beyond kiffin. Signing day is 6 weeks from now. We've had no significant decommits. Orgeron is hot on Akers and Wilson.

I was frustrated with Alleva because he didn't do a thorough job of searching potential candidates, but the only thing special Ed has done is love LSU and want to be the coach. Wait until the bottom falls out to start boo hooing about his failures.
