Ellis Johnson followed Fedora at USM.

I lived in Hattiesburg at this time. And may I just say...he sucked. But Fedora is not my 1st-5th choice for LSU.

I agree that he sucked, but my point was it's darn near impossible to go 0-12 if you have a decent roster. Fedora had to have recruited horribly at USM. Fedora won with players already there when he arrived.

In what world are Fedora and Miles even remotely similar?

Miles also won a national championship, so did Gene fricking Chizik. We've all seen the end of those fiascos. Jimbo is an upgrade over Miles, but a retread of the past, and a vanilla hire that will keep the fans happy and TAF blameless. People hated Jimbo when he was OC at LSU. Good hire? Sure. Home run? Hell no.

Not sure why "national championship" is a required item on our next coach's resume.

Sheesh, if we go through all of this (the last few years of Les football and firing him after game 4 giving LSU a 2-3 month jump start in the search) and end up with Larry Fedora, then all really is not well in Baton Rouge.

I look at this place like politics. If this many people on here don't want Fisher, makes me want him more.

He's a talented coach but not the total
Package. Jimbo is the total package. Balanced attack. Very seasoned in big games. Exceptional recruiter. Great QB developer. Knows the lay of the land at LSU already. It's a flat out Homerun hire.

What are the feelings on actually landing Jimbo, Random? Do we have a legitimately good shot at getting him?

winning at UNC

Meh.
They lost to Duke and Georgia. Got raped by VT at home. Nice win at FSU.

He was 7-6, 7-6, 8-5, and 12-2 at USM. Won the conference once.

I don't think he's bad, but if he is the best we can do, we are in poor shape.

It's very tight lipped. He might have already accepted it, or might have already declined it. He's LSU A#1 target

Awesome.

I'm okay with this personally. Definitely need a strong DC if Aranda jumps ship.
