anyone else found it odd that lincoln riley called OU the "university of oklahoma"? I've literally never heard anyone ever call OU that.
has he ever called oklahoma that before?
seemed strange when I heard it.

Why do I feel like I’m watching Groundhog Day with this.

I think that’s technically correct
OU is just the logo
Or something

I've never heard anyone call it anything other than OU.
Kansas = KU
Nebraska = NU
Colorado = CU
Maybe it was a Big 8 thing

University of Oklahoma is what people local to Oklahoma call it when they’re wanting to be formal for one reason or another. Nothing to see there.

Because it is the “University of Oklahoma “

It used to be Oklahoma University....hence OU. Then they changed the name to the University of Oklahoma.

My sister and brother in law are both professors there and they say University of Oklahoma.

OU was founded as Norman Territorial University. When OK was admitted as a state, the name was changed to the University of Oklahoma.
If there is a source to it ever having been "Oklahoma University" please provide a link.

OU has had two names:
Norman Territorial University
University of Oklahoma
I haven't heard an official reason why it's OU and not UO but this is the last year of the Big 8:
University of Colorado (CU)
Iowa State University (ISU)
University of Kansas (KU)
Kansas State University (KSU)
University of Missouri (MU)
University of Nebraska (NU)
University of Oklahoma (OU)
Oklahoma State University (OSU)

I'm guessing that there are a lot of things that you have never literally heard of before.
