Does Herman bounce back this week against a scrappy 4-3 motivated UCF football team closing in on a bowl?

UCF has a young hungry coach in Scott Frost, coaching against a team that’s entire season has become a dumpster fire when compared to pre-season expectations. Scott Frost has done a great job in his first season with UCF and this could be a signature win of sorts that would get his name in the mix for some higher profile jobs. The program will surely continue to trend upward while he’s there.

Meanwhile on the Houston sideline: Has all the pressure of possibly leaving Houston gotten to Tom Herman? More importantly, are the rumors finally starting to wear on his players? Is he focused on his team who is struggling after a big loss to SMU, or is one leg already out the door? The loss to Navy was understandable. But it’s mind-boggling that the Cougars could be blown out by a sub-.500 SMU team, it is simply inexcusable, as the Cougars played so poorly.

This game now becomes Tom Herman’s latest audition: can he prove he can rally players when things don’t play to their favor?

At the end of the day Houston will take care of business at home against a UCF team that is playing pretty good football in Scott Frost’s first season. The Houston offensive attack gets back on track this week, but not without a fight from the Knights.

I could see UCF winning this game, but I think Houston pulls away late and wins by 10+.

Looking ahead, I feel like Houston has at least two more losses on their schedule. Louisville is going to blow them out, and I don't see Houston winning at Memphis either.

8-4 at best and 7-5 at worst. They won't even sniff the American Conference championship despite having the conference's most talented team by far.

Future LSU coach?

Of course he could be the future LSU coach. People forget what he did at Ohio State as the OC. They dominated. And we have and will continue to have those type of players. it's University of Home people. Herman would dominate at LSU

Yes. Why not? There are lots of folks clamorimg for CEO, and he has a losing record as a head coach.

And you know all of this for certain, correct? Did you pick up that information at your play station HoF coaches gathering at your local convenient store or barber shop?
You can have all of the talent in the world BUT a coach HAS to know how to utilize it to achieve maximum results. Herman did what he did at ohio state WITH Urban Meyers. NOT by himself as OC.

Not saying he's not good, but he's still unproven.

Why don't we just hire the current Ohio State OC? He did not miss a beat when Herman left. Probably be a lot cheaper.

dude, theyve missed a lot of beats.

total offense
2014 (under Herman) - 511.6 yards per game
2015 (after Herman) - 434.1 yards per game

scoring offense
2014 - 44.8 points per game
2015 - 35.7 points per game

theyre not even at the 2014 levels now (501.7 ypg, 45.3 ppg) and that will almost certainly drop as they finish out in conference.

that being said, Herman is dropping quickly with me. Houston should be better than they are right now.

if i was forced to make a choice this moment I would lock down a Orgeron, Aranda, Kiffin package and still have money left over from what it would cost to bring over Herman or Fisher.

Houston better win.

They've screwed two of my ML parlays recently against Navy and SMU.

SURELY they'll get their shite together and win today. My parlay is counting on it.

Maybe it helps playing Navy (who beat Houston this year), Kent State, Cincinnati, etc. Teams like Michigan State (who made the playoffs in 2015) weren't better last year than in 2014?

They're playing at home so you have that going for you. I don't even know where they played against Navy, Tulsa and SMU.

14-3 UCF with three minutes to go in the 2nd quarter. It's in Houston too. Yeah, stellar offense.

Have any of you actually asked yourselves if just maybe that was Urban Meyer's offense at Ohio State? Have you heard of that guy? He has won national championships at two different schools with that offense.

Ohio State's success was because of Urban Meyer, NOT Tom Herman. He's an average coach. GET OVER HIM.

Maybe I'm overreacting, but I think if Herman loses to UCF (on the heels of Navy and SMU) that he probably is officially out of contention for the Texas and LSU jobs.

He definitely won't be getting the LSU job, can't speak for Texas.

I don't think you're overreacting at all. I never felt comfortable with LSU potentially hiring someone from a 'stepping stone' mid major program in the first place.

Touchdown Mensa!

Nothing wrong with hiring a mid major head coach at all. If Herman is who we thought he was he'd be a great hire. Buuuutttttt........ He's on pace to lose 3 of 4

Fair enough, but they need to have a much larger sample size than a season and a half (Herman). Chris Petersen for example. Washington hit the lottery with that guy. I wish we had a shot at him. Have you watched Washington play? They're absolutely the most physical team in the Pac 12, stellar defense, they run the ball well, and he's a QB guru.

Um....So did Dan Mullen and Kyle Whittingham under Urban, hell Steve Addazio fielded a top 10 offense-- maybe, just maybe it has to do with Urban and not Herman.
