I wouldnt' put too much stock in his time in the NFL, it's SUCH a different game (look Saban, Carroll, Weis, etc). But what he did from 01-04 with UGA was nothing short of phenomenal. He is fiery as hell. Like a Muschamp or Grantham but not as crazy. He's loud and intense though and exactly what you want on the sideline from your DC. His only knock is he doesn't really recruit, but he can flat out coach. He always seemed to utilize his talent well and dial up a blitz at just the right time.

I'll tell ya, the end of the MSU game would absolutely have been different with BVG. I remember the end of the 02 Auburn game. We had just gone up by 3 and Auburn had the ball at about their 20 to try to drive for a tie. Instead of dropping back and playing prevent (like we did in our bowl game), he still brought the heat damn near every play and we ended up stoning them. BVG is a hell of a coach and I'm very sad to see him at auburn.

Is he a 3-4 guy or a 4-3 guy? I'm assuming 4-3 since that is what we currently run. Also, it looks like he was a LB position coach so I assume that's his specialty?

I'll post this here since the other thread is getting so long. From 01-04, here are the amount of points we allowed to the opponent in each loss during those 4 years:

01- 14, 24, 24, 20

02- 20 (but 7 came from a pick 6, so essentially 13)

03- 17, 16, 34 (in SECCG to national champ, allowed 17 in first meeting)

04- 19, 24


If he's still the same old BVG, if yall score 3 touchdowns you'll win.

David Greene threw a pick-six in the '03 SECCG, so his defenses really never gave up over 30 points to an opponent while at UGA.
