I really hope he doesnt go to Auburn. The thought scares me. He is really a great, great coach.

I agree. If miles leaves and I get to choose a coach(out of coaches available or willing to leave their school) I would choose Gill no doubt about it.

He'd be in a very tough spot, recruiting against Bama.
LSU shouldn't be scared of anyone. And, anything that thins out the rest of the west really should benefit LSU with our recruiting base.
I agree that he's a good coach though...although Leach would be worst case for LSU.

He has done well in recruiting for being at Buffalo. He has brought in a good number of players from Texas, Florida, and California.

I would rather face a Turner Gil led Auburn team than a Mike Leach Auburn team.

That's nice.
It's a totally different world.

Neither Leach or Gill would do as well at Auburn as Tuberville did. Just from looking at the candidates so far for the Auburn gig, they should be calling Tubs trying to get him back.
Anyone who thinks that Leach, Gill or the bozo from Ball State would win more games than Tuberville is an idiot.

You obviously dont know shite. Not only is Gill a great coach, he is really a good person, which parents would really like. He would do well at Auburn.

+1. Him and Charlie Strong, imo, are the only two coaches who could recruit well against Saban. Auburn would stupid not to take Turner Gill- what are they thinking interviewing the guy from Ball State?

The guy from Ball State is a good coach too. But I would rather have Gill, and i would not even have to think about it.

And, I agree he's a good coach.
But, he'd be in a very tough situation at Auburn.
You are awefully hostile with someone merely because they "kind of" disagree with you.

Leach/Gill vs. what Tubberville accomplished? I agree.
Leach/Gill vs. what Tubberville would have accomplished moving forward given the current state of Bama? I disagree.
Leach is a guy who, while maybe not winning championships, would scare every team they play every week. I'd rather not play against a Leach coached team who's going to perennially be 2nd or 3rd in the West. I'd much rather play against a Tubberville, or Gill coached Auburn.

I agree, & if they are looking at guys like Gill & Hoke, why don't they look at Troy's coach Blakeney...they just won their conf, & talk about a program doing less with more. Plus they have beaten some of the big boys, like Mizzu, & Miss St...and was one qtr from beating this LSU team.

Blakeney also played QB for Auburn in the 60's
I also think one thing against Coach Blakeneny is his age...he is 61 y/o...
how many more years does he plan to coach?
plus he has been @ Troy for 18 years....maybe given his tenure and his age, he is not looking for another coaching move

You may be right but I would love to see Leach come into a place where he could recruit some talent for that offense AND defense I think he would do well in the SEC

Does he get to bring Harrel and Crabtree with him? If not, he will have trouble duplicating his most recent success. Without immediate success, his shine will fade as the defenses adjust. His teams will be fun to watch, but w/o Heisman candidate players(both), they will only be good for upsets, IMHO.
Gill on the other hand is on the rise, and he could compete for Ala players.

It's not hard for him to recruit QBs and WRs.

I agree here. If they aren't seriously interested in Gill and Hoke from Ball State, then Blakeney from Troy State should be considered. He knows the state already.

Any accomplishment by the next AU coach is because of Tubberville's foundation imo.
That being said, Gill is a great coach and I think he would make AU a really really good team. However, I don't know if he could recruit against Bama because even when AU was up and bama was down Bama still got as much talent as AU most years. I think AU will move back to step child of Universities in Alabama for the next few years or so. IMHO.

If I'm Auburn I go after Mullen from Florida.
Gill would be in way over his head. The Auburn job would break him.
