Yea the second tier coach’s never got the call because we never made it to the second tier.
1st tier were jimbo, Riley and Kelly.
If you woulda said months ago that Kelly was even an option everyone would have wanted him. But because everyone thought he was staying and wasn’t really an opetoon everyone married other candidates in their heads and the masses. The crowd was let down because they had preconceived notions.
But if you take a step back Kelly is a damn good hire.
He needs to hire a great staff. And a staff that knows how to recruit. But he will leave the program in good shape for when he retires. And we will be in the runnings for natty along the way. And by the time he retires the program will be stable and not surrounded by all this ba. Imagine him leaving where he was even knowing all the crude this program is potentially facing. The guy wants to win.

Kelly already stated he had a long list of teams seeking his services and the LSU opening stood out to him. He then had a 45 min convo with SW and that was that.

I was under the impression he wanted Florida and they said they had their man.
Made it easier for Woodward and Kelly.

He also stated that his agent handles all communications with these solicitations before the end of the season. I expect he and Trace had a long discussion before that.
One thing that kinda supports that statement though was the statement BK made to the press the prior week about not leaving unless the $250 mil "lotto" check came in and then he would ask his wife... If he was committed to LSU at that time he would have made a better crawfishable statement.

I don’t care about tiers, rumors, speculations or alleged fake accents. LSU now has one of the best coaches in college football.

You don’t drop 100m and make a decision to leave ND and uproot your family after a 45 minute conversation.
This shite was in the making for several weeks, not several minutes.
