Other than Fresno State I believe this is the only current opening in the FBS
Bill Clark would do good here or Cadillac Williams.
Maybe they take a chance on Willie Simmons from Florida A&M?

Bill Clark has been rumored to not be up to coaching.
Caddy and the rest are comical.
The front runners so far are:
Greg Gasparato - Current Troy DC.
Casey Woods - Current SMU OC.
Jordan Lesley - Current WVU DC.
The fan favorite is Gasparato as he would most likely keep the culture formed under Sumrall. Former players are mixed between Gasparato and Lesley. Woods is just a rumor most likely started by an agent.

Troyfans.com just turned back to Cardinal from Black. We must have a coach.

Looks like yall are hiring Gerad Parker Notre Dame OC as head coach.

Zac Etheredge would be a great hire. But I don't want him to leave Auburn

Yep just saw it confirmed. Wow
Eta: Parker played college football at Kentucky with Sumrall and former Troy head coach Neal Brown.

spoke to my brother on Saturday who is in favor of Leslie.
The decision makers are not overly concerned who the players want. They want to find a coach who will compete for SBC championships, keep the program clean, and continue the winning tradition. They are fully aware that if a HC can achieve those goals and average 10 wins a season, within 2-3 years Troy will be looking for another HC hire. Troy is a steppingstone for HC's, and the days of Larry Blakeney (HC for 23 yrs) is a thing of the past.
edit: I did not realize TROY found their new HC as I was typing my reply. Good for T-Roy !!!

Which is both good and bad. As much as I appreciate how LB took us from Division II to FBS, he overstayed by about 5 years. Brown and Sumrall were great while they were here, and Chip Lindsay just didn't work out for either side. Still it sucks to have a great coach for a short period only for them to leave. I'd like to see someone stay more like 4-5 years, but realistically if a good opening is out there and you've had success, it is good to go get that better job.

I agree but unfortunately SBC schools don't have the funds / checkbook to keep good coaches. Brown and Sumrall tripled their salary and Napier went from $1M to $7M. No-brainer to chase the money that P5 conferences are paying when you're young and a hot HC commodity.
