Why in the world would Mark Richt even seriously consider going to Nebraska? They have almost the same expectations as Georgia without anywhere close to the same in-state recruiting base

Uga has pretty low expectations compared to a lot of other schools. He would have been fired at bama or auburn by now.

the board of trustees is looking for a big-time hire, not an up/coming coach ...

Because he was born in Omaha, and still has much of his family there. That's the only reason.

Mark Mangino deserves a shot again. He is 58 but the guy had a winning record at freaking kansas and won a BCS bowl at freaking kansas

I agree that Mangino did a helluva job at KU and deserves another chance -- I just don't think it will be at Nebraska.

Yeah, UGA isn't stupid though. They've seen other programs fire successful coaches who are still winning 9 games a year simply because the fans are unhappy with no national titles. But they realize that it's pretty easy to make one wrong hire and set back your program for many years.

So what are the terms of Tressel's showcause?
Suspended the first 5 games of the regular season and any conference championship game or bowl game at a minimum according to wikipedia.

I'm hearing some buzz that they want Tressel as HC and Scott Frost as OC, with Frost to eventually take over when Tressel leaves... that would be a dream come true.

Tressel to Nebraska makes sense, doesn't it?

Just scanned the thread so I may have overlooked it, but has Bohl been mentioned? Or is the timing just not right since he has only been at Wyoming a year and hasn't proved it there yet?

Would he be suspended for the championship/bowl games of both the 2015 & 2016 seasons, or just 2015? I'm assuming just 2015.

Not being on the sideline for 5 games is a pretty big deal, and would hurt pretty bad that first year. But it may be worth the risk for the long term since he is definitely a known coaching commodity. But I'd also be fearful of pissing the NCAA off and having them keeping the program under surveillance.

Not exactly. Tressel has the show cause penalty and was recently named President of Youngstown State university (May of 2014). He also announced his retirement from coaching at that time.

So it would be a bit unusual to see him leave that job after just a few months.
