Too bad Pete Carroll is 74.

I always thought he was a better college coach then pro and that he made a mistake going back to the NFL to join the Raiders.
Had the rules been then what they are now, USC may still be on a run like he had going.
It would be a showcase hire and would keep LSU recruiting relevant, Carroll also attracts top assistants in the way Saban did. His years in the NFL also serve to know how to deal with paid players and the different issues that causes
But at 74 it just would seem to be too old.

He won a Super Bowl, and was a yard away from winning a second, so it obviously wasn't a mistake.
Plus, the NCAA was getting ready to drop the hammer on USC when he left. Even if he had stayed, there would have been a period of decline.

I did not think going to the Seahawks was a mistake. No college was going to hire. I meant his current job was a huge mistake. I do think the best hires will have at least some NFL experience as it helps dealing with what are now professional athletes.

One of my all time favorite coaches. Total opposite of Kelly.

Carroll and USC would have fell off as Saban’s Alabama became THE program… the Pac12 wouldn’t have helped

They would have fallen off due to the sanctions.
A full strength USC program under Carroll vs Saban's Alabama would've been beyond epic.
