would be the only way to save face at this point and get fans excited again.
doubt it is possible though.

He would need to be paid more than most HCs to even listen

No coach worth a damn is coming to LSU to be the next puppet for Les Miles offense.

Wasn't he just given an extension at more than double what our current OC makes?
If he's truly interested, what are the options available leading to LSU? 1-Take a pay cut and demotion to run the offense with Miles "input" and one year to show marked improvement and hope defense holds up their end. The risk being a major blow to your own career.
2-Take one more season with an intact roster that just kicked arse and wait for the same old shite to play out in BR. Risk being that things work out at LSU without you.

Y'all are fricking hilarious

While I agree with you, I know that this will not happen.
Why?
Do you really have to ask?
It makes too much sense. It is logical.
Therefore, at LSU, with a weakdick AD and egomaniacal boosters running the show, nothing that makes sense stands a chance.

A head coach taking a demotion to come to LSU 'makes too much sense' and is 'logical'. FFS, have some self respect.

It's literally neither of those things.
Why would Herman leave the UH head coach job after 1 year to be the OC at LSU?
FFS some of you.

HCIW. Miles coaches one more year, gets his deserved farewell tour, this year's recruits know who the coach will be going forward. Sure, it makes sense, from our side of things. For Herman's side of things, sure, we'd have to pay him a lot "to take a demotion" (for a year), but, he'd know he would be taking over a premier program.
Yes, it makes sense, and would be good.
That's why it won't happen.

If I've learned anything about all of this, it's that Miles isn't only going to coach for one more year.
Les Miles has 111 wins, McClendon 137. I fully expect Miles to coach at LSU, safely, until he gets that record. 26 more wins, in other words: 2-3 years.
Any OC should be thinking that, if they succeed, it'll be 2-3 years before they get to be the HC at LSU.

It's the most irrational, illogical suggestion ever

So it's more important for Miles to get the record, then it is for LSU to be competitive in the SEC West the next 2-3 yrs? Okay.

Yeah I think people should have some doubts about the possibility

Tom Herman would never come to LSU as OC/HCIW. Never. Never post this again please. Thanks.

Did you watch last night? Les Miles is bigger than LSU. LSU has made Les Miles the program. Obviously, most fans agree with this. LSU is satisfied with mediocrity.

That's not what I wrote. That's also note what I implied.
Don't conflate my opinion on what will happen with my opinion on what I'd like to see happen.
I like Les Miles. I want to see Les Miles succeed, win a ton of games and get another national championship. I'd love to see that.
That won't happen without a fundamental transformation on offense. At best, the OC makes the offense better and we see a return to "Lesticles" football - gadget plays, creativity and the Hat rolling the dice like a madman.

Are you his agent?
If LSU supposedly can pony up $15M to buyout Miles, they can pony up enough money to lure Herman to Baton Rouge. No offense, but the Univ. of Houston is a stepping stone.
