one negative would be that he has zero connections with regional recruiting (texas, louisiana, miss, florida)

Two negatives: no regional ties, and I don't think he's recruited that well at Utah.

In fairness, who the hell COULD recruit well at Utah? Biggest caveat for a hire like Whittingham is his ability to recruit SEC talent.

if alleva hired lane kiffin to be the head coach at LSU, he might as well start packing up his office.

We could do worse, but he's definitely in tier 2 after Herman and Jimbo IMO.

This is a troll thread

Kyle Whittingham is a good coach though. Has a little Les in him with the way we went for it and converted on 4th down so many times vs USC last week

This is a 'double' type hire, as opposed to a home run.

I went ahead and checked Utah's recruiting under Whittingham. At no point in the 10+ years he's coached there has Utah finished in the top-20. The best rivals rating Whittingham had was #29 ... at a Pac-12 school.

I realize Utah is a uniquely challenging recruiting environment, but Whittingham isn't a good hire unless he surrounds himself with SEC experienced recruiters as assistant coaches.

What in the hell makes you think he would ever tell us that?

You want his sources to be fired?

I wonder if DALSU could be from another fanbase just messing with LSU fans

Hmmm

The assistant coach hires would be crucial, but I think he'd be decent. Probably equitable to hiring Mullen, albeit without regional ties. Good tier B.

He did upset Bama in the Sugar Bowl.

Wait Dalsu is so connected or always has inside info but he don't know who the guy even is or who he coaches for? Come on man this has been discussed on numerous shows he's a Mormon and will not leave that area. He's a good coach but come on. Get out of here with that

Pretty sure they're going to talk to a lot of coaches. They have their main targets, but they also have to gauge interest from others in case options A & B don't work out. I'm not gonna let every name that comes out get me all excited (or angry).

No sources, but can give a bit more info. This is out of left field. Then again, so was Saban.
