If Orgeron can really, truly learn from his Old Miss experience, he will hire a youngish OC with clear potential to succeed @ LSU. Yes, I'll use Saban as an example - he hires assts and coordinators based upon reputation, results, and intuitive evaluation. Saban had not worked with KiffIn before but knew he would succeed @ Ala.

Compare THAT mindset, to the mindset of promoting the comfortable pick (DiNardo picks McConnell), or the "stood in my wedding pick" (Miles picks Cameron).

Orgeron can prove he's truly learned something with this hire, or, he can show that when the heat is on, he'll revert to old, bad habits.

He’s proving already that he didn’t learn anything from failing at Ole Miss.

Special Ed has learned NOTHING. Absolutely nothing from his Ole Miss days and never will. He's the same incompetent human being. You're delusional if you think he will ever change.

He had a rift and fired his OC after year 1 at both Ole Miss and LSU.

He now seems to want to hire geriatric dudes who are also his friends.

You don't have to be a seer to see where this is going

Saban hired Brian Dabol to be OC, who was a GA for Saban at Michigan St. He was a failed OC in the NFL and was the NE Patriots TE coach when Saban hired him. He spent most of his NFL career working for Saban’s buddy Bill Belichick. He was not on anyone else’s radar when hired.

Now the difference is that Saban’s judgment is to be trusted due to his track record. Coach O on the other hand doesn’t have that trust and frankly hasn’t earned it. Therein lies the real problem. I don’t trust him enough with his decision making to believe that Ensminger at OC is what’s best for the team.

All good points. And nothing wrong with hiring someone based upon a buddy's recommendation, when that buddy is Bill Belichick.

O probably did learn from his Ole Miss experience. He learned that he will never win a championship no matter who the coordinators are. Therefore, he needs to be shrewd enough to negotiate a deal guaranteed to pay him the same amount whether he gets fired or not. He then should make sure his friends get paid and insist that he only work with who he wants to work with regardless of whether he's breaking a promise made when he got the job.

In O's mind, he's worked hard to get where he is and deserves this opportunity to enjoy the spoils of being HC of LSU. If you don't like it, you become HC. If you don't think O can win a championship doing things his way, well then you are probably one of those arrogant people that look down on the good people of Louisiana.
