it may or may not be Saban. But you don't force a NC winning coach who was one game from BCS out unless you already have something in place. Just my $0.02

I think that's the prevailing thought...

You don't just can a guy like Mack (yes, I know he's sucked a little bit more lately) unless you've got something BIG already in place.

Not even worth that considering you're the 133rd person to post it here.

Guess I missed the others. Maybe I should have paid to post it!

Meh. The deal with Saban may or may not be done but Texas would make the move regardless. They are determined to have the highest paid coach in CFB so they know they will get someone of note regardless of whether it is Saban.

Call me fricking crazy but you think Saban knew it might be easier to get out of T-town if he lost the iron bowl? So he tried a nearly impossible field goal.

You are giving the sips too much credit. Mack is gone regardless. The time had come to can him with or without a replacement. They have a short list and can fill that position easily.

Losing Mack is no big deal for the interim. They still have until Feb for spring practice to start. Hopefully they hire someone quality though.

Maybe, but I think they had a verbal from Saban before forcing Mack out. Bama may have forced reconsideration since then by offering more money

That's just not true.

Mack's time has come and gone. he's had 4 straight years of mediocrity by Texas standards. Most wanted him out a year ago. he got one last shot because he was bringing back most of his starters this year.
