The UL's will both be searching for a new MBB coach this offseason.

Does anyone have any ideas if either has an eye on anyone in particular?

Any fan favorites within the individual fanbases and alumni?

I would love to see Byron Starks get a chance at his alma mater though I do not know if UL Lafayette will even look his way.

Do any of you UL Monroe and UL Lafyatte insiders have a scoop to share with the rest of us?

Dude I agree, Starks needs to be high on any list for UL HC, he has built a nice resume at HS/Lower Level College teams like LSUA and BCCC in Shreveport

Will Wade could make the move to Lafayette, but that would be a step down.

Indeed, he did

You mean BRCC in Baton Rouge.

My bad, I thought he was at Bossier Community College, didn’t realize it was BRCC, thanks for correction

No offense to Byron as he is a friend but I think that would be a little reach at this point.

He may agree with you.

From my perspective, it is not like UL Lafayette is a consistent tournament team. It may be worth taking a flyer on a guy who was a fan favorite and has had consistent ties in Lafayette., Desormeaux as football coach was as much of a reach considering where the program was from my perspective. If my recollection is correct (always suspect with me these days ), one of the main knocks against Marlin was his acerbic personality, which made him less than popular with boosters, that will never be a problem with Starks. But I do not expect them to go that way as much as I would really like it.

Sorry, you cannot read more than a title or get context clues. But keep at it and it may come to you one day.

I’m seeing lots of grassroot support for Brad Boyd for ULL coach

Boyd has no college or junior college coaching experience from what I see. Does he have any state championships as a coach? That seems like it would be a significant reach, way more than Starks would be.

ETA: I am unsure if he may have been on staff at UL Lafayette at some point

I think Boyd would be a bad hire as well. Just throwing it out there he and some Lafayette peeps are pushing his name

He was a grad assistant or student assistant at one point, but has been coaching high school since.

I think he'd be an asset to have on the staff but without college experience he likely won't get a sniff for the head coaching job. I personally wouldn't be against him getting a shot at it but I don't think he will

Looked up Wade’s salary - $700k. Surprising for McNeese.

He certainly fits with a particular culture found in Southwest Louisiana. I’d venture to say he’s probably really good at drawing up some sets and managing the game well but to run the whole thing? No sir. He would be an elite level bagman though

Lafayette has gotta (at the very least) reach out to David Patrick, no?
