If all that UF can pull is Muschamp, maybe the U is down to these third tier guys. Maybe the Saban/Petrino backlash has finally taken affect. Coaches afraid to jump ship from schools with similar money for fear of being vilified in the media as liars and cutthroats.

i think timing and the timetable UF established is why they had to settle on such a risky hire

Foley said the search would last two to two-and-a-half weeks. They settled pretty quickly.

Probably, just a thought. I think Peterson might be a little scared to step up in competition. Hawkins night sweats.

What does the coaching search at Miami have to do with media backlash? This is the program that hired Larry Coker and Randy Shannon.

Not the search itself. The inability of Miami to attract a candidate already at a BCS school. People staying put for similar money than having to answer why they left.

The problem is assuming that they're being intelligent and talking to good coaches who are already at BCS schools. The people in charge have shown no signs that they have a clue what they're doing.

What backash? They live in the state where they coach and people in those states love them. They don't call them "backstabbers" or anything in those states. And they both recruit well which shows there is no backlash in the recruits mind which is important.

You'd have a better arguement with Rich Rodriguez, but he's losing. Winning cures all ills. Ex: ESPN's dicksucking of all things bama/saban.

If you think that guys like Saban and Petrino give a rats arse what the media saya about them you are very innocent. These guys are ego and money driven. Every thing and every one else are just implements to be used or discarded. As long as they get theirs nothing else matters.

Saban/Petrino

Both of whom went to the NFL before returning to college so I don't get how it's comparable. I don't recall Saban being "vilified". I think he was briefly mocked for his insistence that he wasn't leaving. Petrino was vilified for quitting on his team mid-season.

yes, it wan't "mid season", he never the less quit with games remain on the schedule. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you would be none to happy if he bolted in Mid Nov from Arkansas.

I wouldn't like it, you are right. I'd also be pissed if our AD if he didn't let him address the team like he wanted to.

LSU you fans love the "if" word I have learned.
