So even if Alleva let's LSU get dominated by UT and Sexton and we miss out on our top two candidates, he can still fall back and say Orgeron was his top candidate the whole time. A large portion of fans, players, media etc will praise him for the hire. We will continue under his weak leadership.

I disagree. He will not lose his job for hiring Orgeron.

I want better leadership. Alleva is weak and should be replaced.

O will not be the coach at LSU next season. If the deal with Herman falls through then i would imagine it opens things back up with Jimbo. If a deal can't be made for him then Larry Fedora and Mike Gundy will get a phone call.

Nah because we have fricker King as president and they will continue be the tandem of suck together.

King and Alleva are on a one way train to taking LSU off course for the next decade.

You people are hilarious. A hire hasn't even been made yet and you are already proclaiming that King and Alleva are ruining LSU for the next decade.

How do you live with yourself being that miserable?

He won't lose it immediately but give it 3 years when that disaster sinks in.

I think you are misunderstanding this post. I sincerely hope Alleva succeeds in this hire. However I am just saying there will be no accountability if he fails. He has set it up perfectly for himself with Orgeron.

Not really. After O doesn't meet the incredible expectations of fans they will go restless of their Native Son and want Alleva's head. So he won't be fired the day he hires O. Probably 2 years from then.

How has Alleva set up anything for himself? He gave the interim job to the most qualified person on staff and told him to go out and run the program as you see fit. And at the end of the year, you can be a candidate.

It's like you're upset that this won't blow up in Alleva's face. Yet Alleva did nothing to "position" Orgeron in the first place.

If we end up with Orgeron as our HC, yes I will believe Alleva will have failed and I will want him to be accountable.

What does this even mean? People keep on saying shite like this, and it makes no sense. All he can do is make an offer within LSU's resources, and if it isn't accepted then that is beyond his control. You are aware that Tom Herman is a human being with his own agency and desires, right? He will make a decision based off of what he wants, right?

So you would already chalk up Orgerons tenure as a failure?

Niceeeeee

Negotiating is a skill. It's not just come in and offer what you can and they can take it or leave it. Deals are made with timing, leverage, contract details etc. If Alleva can't close the deal with J Fisher and Herman, than he never should have made them his top candidates then.

Why? Is this still over the Duke Lacrosse deal? He seemed to be the guy last season who wanted to move on from Miles which many agreed needed to happen. It looked like he set his sites high and had a good shot at Fisher that collapsed when the State got involved over perception. He seemed to take it in stride and remained focused on seeing improvements from Miles that did not materialize. He made a move to remove Miles and put in Orgeron on an interim basis in a move that has worked reasonably well and is now in pursuit of two of the bigger names in college coaching. If he lands one - what's not to like?

I would chalk the coaching search up as a failure.
