What makes anyone think that an offer to Miles is going to be anything but smoke and mirrors. Nutt got an offer to stay at Ar-Kansas and he still left. These things aren't just playing out. I deal with contracts on a daily basis, the hirer and hiree don't wait until it's inevitable that things are going one way or another.

This is just speculation and its already been stated on here before. But in my experiences Miles and LSU were contacted by UM at the beginning of the season or before to feel Miles out on his interest in the UM job. Carr was on his way out...everyone knew that. UM would be idiots to wait until the end of the season to begin interviewing for Carr's replacement. Call yourself naive if you believe this.

LSU and Miles spoke about a contact extension and probably came to the agreement if they went to the NC or won the NC Miles would stay at LSU and become the highest paid coach in the country. Miles has accepted a deal with UM early in the year and LSU has been actively interviewing and speaking to candidates since this time.

Everything is going to go down to make it seem like Carr announces his retirement, UM asks for permission to speak to Miles, after the SECCG they speak and offer the job, Miles accepts, LSU begins the coaching search and hires a new coach.

LSU has two candidates to replace Miles. Jack del Rio has been offered the job...in principal. His offer is contingent of his team possibly winning their division. If he withdraws, LSU's next in line candidate is Mr. Tuberville. Tuberville has not signed his extension at AU and is awaiting the LSU job.

Watch the Jaguars / Colts game this week...if Jags lose del Rio is the next LSU coach...if they win Tuberville is the next LSU coach. These deals are done!!

Oh and by the way...the owner of my firm's daughter is in the same sorority as del Rio's daughter and she stated that her dad was a candidate weeks ago for the LSU job.

.....good post, but one thing your source is holding back to even you (IF he/she is in the know) is that they most certainly HAVE gotten feelers out to the respective agents. University officials, no. Agents, yes.

Not trying to debunk your source, but they have not sat on their hands waiting.....a contigency plan is in effect. Sorry.

BTW, I'd argue my source is every bit or more credible than yours.

(Disclaimer: my main source did not validate the SS car rental allegations....that was from an employee I know at said business)

4) There have been NO negotiations with other coaches or their agents. Claims to the contrary are just BS.

If you are talking to me, I've said that Bertman has talked to Sexton...I know for a fact...I don't know what the conversation was but I'm sure it was a feeler..I'm sure hes seeing who's interested but I don't "think" he's talkign numbers that would be really pointless at this point.

They do want Miles to stay...

that sounds about right, but some discussion has gotten a bit more in depth....not necessarily negotiations.

"Feelers" perhaps. "Negotiations" no.

If they know who they want to replace Miles if that was the case they can agree with the prospective coach to begin negotations...To begin negotiations the Chancelor has to go to the board to start the deal. I'm just saying FOR AN EXAMPLE...If Del Rio was interested and LSU was interested they would really negotiate the thing out AFTER THERE IS ACTUALLY A JOB OPENING.

I think it goes like this: WE have a _ package for _ years put together, who would be interested in it?

Vague talk of numbers but on other possible contract stipulations.....blah blah blah.

All of these elements are going to be discussed at a high level. Detailed conversations commence when Les accepts UM job.
