Teams that reportedly have interest:
1. Arkansas
2. Mississippi State
3. Parkview High School
4. USC-W
5. Alabama (Saban set to retire, he’s recommended Nutt before)

If Arkansas doesn’t pick up HN then they are retarded. He wants to coach, and he won at Arky. They got too greedy.

Yep, '06 won the SEC West, '07 took them to the Cotton Bowl, a year later he was taking Ole Miss to the Cotton Bowl.

It is tempting to do it if only so we get to enjoy the once a year "how the hell" game where he knocks off someone like LSU or Bama.
Granted that also comes with the once or more a year "how the hell" game where he loses something he should have won.

Arkansas in the need for some heppin'?

Former Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt appeared on 103.7 the Buzz in Little Rock to discuss the Arkansas head coaching search. Nutt was at the helm of the Razorbacks from 1998-2007.
Nutt was first asked if he was offered the job if he would take it. He first referenced when he got the initial interview interview at Arkansas.
“...it didn’t take us long before the state was united,” Nutt said, reflecting on when he was brought aboard. “We went to every high school in the state of Arkansas with nine coaches... and what I appreciate so much is guys like Grant Garrett and Darren McFadden, Boo Williams, Ryan Hale, and Russ Brown, I can go on and on about the players who have reached out and said ‘Come on coach, come back and let’s get this thing going again.’ I’d like to , I would, but I’d only want to come back if they want me -- if the athletic director (Hunter Yuracek), and the state wants me. It’d have to be that -- togetherness.
“This is a crossroads. This is a big time decision for the University of Arkansas. This has got to be the right fit. You can’t just say “Oh, this is Chad Morris’ fault,” because I saw it back in 2010, 2011, 2012. I saw recruiting going down. I saw it getting slower, and recruiting is the lifeline as you all know...Arkansas is a little different. You have to start at Arkansas, and they may not be a four-star right off the bat...There are so many names that didn’t start out a five star, but guess where they ended up? Because they had the fight and the heart of wanting to be a Razorback, and to me, that’s what it’s about. So yeah, I’d love to come back, but again, it has to be right and everybody as to be together, and it’s not easy. Because you are in the toughest conference in America.”

Might have to bring Katy Perry back to the Grove if the Right Reverend brought an Arky team to Vaught-Hemingway

After reading that... how do you not hire the man? He’s definitely got a love for the state of Arkansas. The program is basement dwelling now, and he seems like the most qualified/capable person of turning it around.
A lot of ex Arkansas stars to help fence off the state... When is HN’s start date?
Edit:
Arkansas born and raised. Played ball at Arkansas. Was a GA at Arkansas. This shite is a no brainer, bring his arse back and funnel his love for the program that you won’t get from some other hot names.

Houston Nutt is an expert motivator. That’s what he does best. Eventually the rah-rah wears thin, the energy runs out, and it’s been 10 years and you’re wondering why you haven’t had a passing game since year 2.
With that being said, I would by lying if I said there isn’t a small part of me that’s thinking “why the frick not? Bring that son of a bitch back and let him talk some Arkansas boys into running through some walls for us.”

Just looked him up, he's only 62, wonder why teams haven't tried to hire him?

The 7 other SEC head coaches 49-94-2

Guys live and learn. I’d bet good money that a lot of coaches will look to what Ed Orgeron has done at LSU. Ed brought in a young innovative offensive mind to take the offense out of the stone ages. His coaching style hasn’t changed, but he brought in the right guy to change the offensive approach. A lot of these older coaches have to be thinking they can do something similar.

Very astute post! If they make another bad hire they will be a disaster for a decade. Probably can’t get a big name now due to the state of the program but Houston could get them in the positive win column the quickest and then a few years down the road the program would be much more attractive for a big name coach. No one wants to have a disaster in their resume and they are surrounded by states that are killing them in recruiting. It’s gonna be a uphill battle but Nutt can probably get it going.
