There are so many viable candidates that offer so many more positive variables than Lane Kiffin.
First off, he is not coming here.
But why do we want him?
Being a one year wonder with a freshman quarterback does not overcome the negatives and risks involved in hiring him.
He has proven himself over the years to be a man of questionable character.
He has the maturity level of a teenager.
He is guaranteed to bolt after a year or two at the most.
And I think his body of work is far from enough to conclude that he is some offensive genius or guru.
A lot of guys would succeed in Tuscaloosa with the unparalleled stockpile of talent as well as the nation's number one defense backing you up and constantly giving you great field position.

I been saying this since his name came up. frick KIFFIN. Kiffin would only stay 1-2 years.Get someone who would bring stability to the program. It so stupid that so many people want to bring Kiffin in when there's better options.

So you would be disappointed if we hired him?

Please list the options that are clearly better than Kiffin AND who you think would be here 3 years or longer.

Thanks

Are we still waiting until after the bowl to hire OC? If so why? Our main target isn't waiting so what are we doing

I live 40 miles from Tuscaloosa and some inside info I heard is that Saban is ready to let him go because Kiffin missed a coach's meeting so they went to find someone with a key to Kiffin's office. When they opened the door Kiffin was layed out drunk with a bottole of vodka. That shite don't play with Saban.

His play calling is below average. If you can't see that then we're so far apart on this that we won't be able to come to an agreement.

What's funny is that this really could be true.

What precisely is your issue with his playcalling?

One year wonder?

He's had first-year starters at QB each of the last 3 years and has made the playoffs each year. One of those year was Blake freaking Sims and this year was a true freshman, yet the offense never misses a beat.

True, Kiffin a douche, but he's one hell of an OC, and is nothing close to a one year wonder.

Yeah, I'm not sure how one could objectively say he isn't at least a good OC. He's shown he can evolve and change schemes with a variety of QBs with different skill and experience levels. I'm guessing people are starting to think he isn't coming so the "WE DIDNT WANT HIM ANYWAY" stage has begun?

Riley - 100% not coming. He interviewed for the UH HC job this week. IF he came he'd be gone in 1-2 yrs but will not make a lateral move.

Helfrich - ran an offense that many say won't play in the SEC. There is much debate about whether he actually was ever calling plays when UO was lighting it up. Chip Kelly and Scott Frost were definitely killing it. Helfrich not so sure. Questionable at best if he's better than Kiffin.

Canada - hot coach du jour after one eye popping season vs. ACC defenses. Could EASILY be next year's Fuente or Herman or Rhule and be gone in a year or 2.

It's not that easy to just say there's this long list that are locks to be better AND would stay here.

Riley is not coming

I'd take Canada if we can't get Kiffin

Helfrich has major concerns

He's a good, not great OC.

I think people are just so starved to have a victory over Bama in some way that hiring him would do the trick.

Yes because no sooner would he get here he would leave, thus creating more instability. LK went to Alabama to rehabilitate his reputation--and working for Saban was a part of it. He gains nothing coming to LSU at this point, and quite frankly I don't think LSU gains anything either.
