The NCAA should step in.......

I think the NCAA should step in and make a rule preventing a coach be contacted/courted by other schools UNTIL the season at the current school is over. This would end a lot of bullshite.

Thats wouldn't be the worst policy in the world.
If you did that they should adjust the signing date a month later or so.

THAT, would likely take care of the problem without having to legislate the first part.
Coaches leave early, because they MUST "get to the recruiting" right away..in the majority of cases.
...but remember, that Universities can also opt to NOT HAVE SOMEONE COACH A BOWL GAME...
here is why...AND NOT A BAD POLICY..
if the coach is going to a school that the current school plays, do you want that coach getting the national exposure and thus helping his recruiting ?? NO !
One of the first lessons in business I learned at GOUDCHAUX's was this....
if someone gives you notice, you let him go NOW..no need to expose him to your customers/future customers.
You thank him for the notice, you pay him as if he was working, but you relieve him of the duties.
"and you would not want the coach to keep it hush hush from the school...the only other option"
BTW universities have to get permission before approaching another university's coach....
so the HUSH HUSH option..applies only to the contract being finalized.

FYI, that's a bad business lesson. Every situation is different and should be evaluated on its own.
To take a firm stance where you predetermine that you will not allow an exiting coach to coach the bowl game can only hurt yourself.
Hell, we might have one less NC if we don't keep Pelini but instead turn over control to dumb and dumber.

The NFL does do this. There are also rules that prevent a team from "stealing" an assistant unless that assistant will become a head coach.

NOT TRUE...a rule must be in place, then
exception can occur.
..just that such should be the rule,
and I think that little ole country store did pretty well with their business practices
BTW
..if the school chose to not let the coach coach in the Bowl Game, that's their choice.
..neither one of us has the privilege of knowing what happened in private.

do not know if it is by AUTHORITY, by AGREEMENT between College Presidents or of the AFCA (American Football Coaches Association)....
it is certainly the PRACTICE.

Isnt the rule for NFL Assistants if they move to another team they must go up a level, RB coach must become OC etc?
