The other reason I could see McDermott leaving the NFL would be to garner more name recognition. Lets face it...he is an NFL DC and his name is very low key. So it would be a boost to his resume to leave and come here.

No.
The ONLY way it would make sense, is if his real goal is to be a college head coach. Even then, it wouldn't make much sense.
If the guy is coming from the NFL, look for it to be someone from a fired staff.

The plane is heading from BTR to Arlington, TX today. Not gonna pretend like I know what that means, but I'm sure there will be lots of speculation.
