Awesome job dude. I think Bo Pellini maybe the highest lock at the moment as far as he will jump to LSU in a heartbeat. So I going to say Pellini is the top of the 2nd tier coaches on that list which is solid. I will say Malzahn is a bottom 1st tier that we could probably reel in because he was talking to Maryland after he signed his contract extension. Gus wants to be a HC.

Saban - for the same reason Les would leave for UM, i.e., if he considers LSU home more so than Bama and the place he would want to leave his legacy.

Patterson - IMO, he should be first on the list. He may refuse but I would be upset if he wasn't approached. Alleva should give him our best offer and he will accept or spend the rest of his life regretting he didn't. BTW, TCU may be ahead of us currently, but LSU/SEC is much closer to the next NC than TCU/Big East.

You people crack me up. You dissect every potential head coach as not being ready or not an upgrade.

The University of Florida hired a Defensive Coordinator with no head coaching experience.

USC hired Lane Kiffin.

Michigan cannot get an alumnus (Jim Harbaugh) to come over to be their head coach.

And some idiots run around this message board and convince people that Skip Holtz or Kevin Sumlin would be a bad hire. Just because you have not heard of the coach does not mean they are not well qualified.

LSU's last two head coaches had records of 34-24-1 and 28-21 and came from teams in the mid to bottom half of their respective conferences. Both of those hires worked out pretty good, didn't they?

Out of my list, I really like Todd Graham or Mark Dantonio. Two different approaches, but I think both would be very successful with our talent.

Dantonio would be my dark horse if Miles is gone.

I said it earlier: two Pelini brothers and a Leach.

Warm up the LSU Freakshow.

That's some good data, but it benefits guys who took over teams that were bad before they got there. Chris Petersen and Chip Kelly would both have low numbers because their predecessors were successful as well.

They are both mentioned in the post.

That list of coaches are guys who have very similar statistics as Miles/Saban did before each came to LSU. They are not necessarily the best 15 or so coaches in the country, but it is interesting to see how many guys can be found on both that list and the short list of probable Miles replacements.

Gus is even more of a lock than Bo. If offered, he would jump at the opportunity.

Any talk of Pinkel at Mizzou. He has a pretty good record albeit he he is coaching in the big 12 north. Good offensive which we need and we could keep Chavis.

Pinkel has been mentioned...age may be an issue but shouldn't be. I think he would be successful at LSU with a good defensive coordinator like Chavis.

Nah, I'm pretty sure he is around the same age as Les (maybe 58 or 59).

See?

LSU can replace Coach Miles without missing a beat.

First, I don't want to see Miles go. Not because he's irreplaceable, but the timing is shitty. This is a monster recruiting class that I do not want to see fall apart.

I assume this must be somewhat realistic. I'd love Patterson, but I don't think it's going to happen.

Best "realistic" candidate--Bo Pelini.

Honorable mention: Tommy Tuberville.

You guys who would cease to be LSU fans if T was HC? See ya. Tuberville can coach his arse off.

With both of these, I would worry about LSU remaining consistently a top five recruiting program.

At this level, slipping from a consistent top 5 recruiting program to top 10-15 would be devastating.
