The case that it's Aranda. Reading the tea leaves. No sauce, just logic.

Sure, Aranda has been mentioned a few times by reporters and the like, and some sources here and elsewhere, but nothing concrete. No true "smoke" like we've seen with Riley, Jimbo, and Tucker. All things considered, Aranda "smoke" has been extremely limited, and that could indicate that he is the hire. More substantive smoke around other candidates makes this more likely, IMO.

Consider the following:

-One of the first earliest leaks was that Aranda's kids had been enrolled at Dunham School for the Spring Semester...and almost instantly "smoke" started billowing out of the AD for other candidates...

-Riley is NFL bound sooner rather than later, and I don't think SW wants to deal with that.

-Jimbo gave his pissed off comments about not taking the LSU job. Obviously, we told him no.

-Franklin getting his extension.

-Tucker getting his extension.

-From all indications, Washington's list of candidates does not include Aranda.

-Napier leaking his interactions and interest from Florida, trying to push SW. From all indications, we haven't really engaged.

-Kiffin has baggage - and with our Title IX issues, not happening.

-Cristobal is a CEO type - this isn't happening for obvious reasons.

-Campbell picking up steam to USC.

-Fickell - He's holding out for Ohio State (Day wants the NFL).

-Urban would be a great hire, but questions would exist about his commitment and longevity. Plus, UF is open.

-Brian Kelly is 60.

-Aranda would be above Mark Stoops and PJ Fleck in the pecking order.

-Petersen hasn't coached in a few years.

-BOB is probably the most ludicrous candidate brought up.

-Brady isn't happening. He hates recruiting and LSU isn't going to promote a coordinator.

-Dabo is waiting for Alabama.

-Saban is the great white whale, and the Bama melt would be the most epic of all time. But, that's not happening.

A wild card could be Rhule, but, reading the tea leaves, and using logic, it seems like Aranda is the hire. And it's been done for quite some time.

I like Aranada, I really do.

Would be a massively underwhelming hire.

Please elaborate on his supposed baggage and how it would have anything to do with Title IX allegations at LSU. Thanks.

He would be the better long term hire IMO.

Ohio State literally passed on him. I would tell Ohio State to go frick themselves.

Aranada may be underwhelming but Aranda would be a home run

All of Woodward's previous football hires have been guys that were offensive specialists with experience coaching QBs.

Given LSU's struggles yet again with offensive production and QB development, I would be surprised if he hired a defensive minded coach - especially one that has only produced just one good season as a head coach.

Joey Freshwater is a well known poon slayer & buddies with O. LSU higher ups don't want another frat boy running the show.

Everybody seems to be looking past the fact that Tucker hasn’t acted on his extension that would make him the 2nd or 3rd highest paid CFB coaches at what he termed a destination school in his beloved Big 10. What is he waiting on?? Been asked about it several times in different settings and will not discuss it.

That’s two assumptions and one is the mindest of Woodward which probably shouldn’t factor in your reasoning being that’s impossible to know or have any clues about

It's like you've blocked everything that he did prior to Bama. And BTW, name an unsuccessful OC under Saban at Bama.

What does this have to do with Title IX?

They really aren’t

Other than some message board fodder from five years ago, what indication is there that Kiffin can’t keep his private life, private? Or that it in any way impacts his ability to run his program?

I don’t see a whole lot of tea leaves in this post. You’re taking one rumor about Dave’s kids (which made no sense from its inception) and then extrapolating that over summaries of existing candidates. Summaries that are all (in all likelihood) not how SW considers these coaches. I don’t see any dots to connect at this time. Dave may be the guy, but it isn’t because Kelly is old and BoB is ludicrous. Catch my meaning?

It's been established that he's in regular contact with NFL coaches who want to pick his brain about offense. I don't know if he's ever publicly stated he wants to be in the NFL, but that would always be in the back of my mind with Riley.

Is this a serious question? He's a known coed chaser, and currently argues with his 25 year-old yogalates instructor girlfriend in the middle of yogalates class.

Kiffin is perfect at Ole Miss, or Miami. Can win 7 a year and be lauded.

When Corral is gone, he's fricked.

He is 11-9 as a HC in the Big 12.

He is an excellent football coach, his abilities as a HC in the SEC are very much unknown.
