Not a flashy hire, but he’s a good coach no doubt.

I feel like Elko is just a younger version of Stoops, so I think I’d prefer him. Stoops is a good coach I just question if it’s the right move at this point in his career trajectory

He is. Elko is Better but I'm sure boosters want a bigger name.

He's also making 9 million a year. Why the heck would you pay over that for Mark stoops when you could get Elko for a lot less

Yeah holy shite I didn’t realize he made that much. I have a hard time seeing this one. Perhaps Stoops is fishing for an extension

That's exactly what he's doing. He's having a rough year so he's looking for security

Pretty solid choice IMO. He's done a very good job at UK.

Prefer Elko. Also Stoops making 9 mil is insane.

I generally agree...only question on Elko is experience as HC but otherwise Elko is a damn fi ne choice

I do think Elko would be more expensive than people might expect. Duke is private so nobody knows how much he makes but I’ve seen some reports he’s pretty well compensated

Obviously nothing like Stoops though

Here’s the issue with Stoops and I said this during the LSU search. He’s done a phenomenal job recruiting the Ohio players that Ohio State passes on. The Stoops family is royalty in Ohio and his lead recruiter Vince Marrow is an Ohio guy too.

Does that translate when you’re not in Kentucky? He can pull those players across the border, can he pull them several states away?

Don't think his makes sense. Stoops already making 9m a year. Don't see them paying over that

A&M isn't paying Stoops over 9M. Elko makes 3M

I don't know if it makes sense for aTm, but it makes sense for Stoops. With divisions going away, he's going to lose annual games against MSU, Vandy, Mizzou, Tenn, and Florida. All games that they have had good chances of winning in the past few years.

Kentucky is going to fall down the ladder even further, so might as well get off before your stock collapses. And aTm will give him a bigger contract.
