The time's good now, though...
Except the fact that Texas HAS a coach, that will be back next year.

Rumors everywhere that Texas will "do whatever if takes" and "break the bank."
No there aren't.

how is the timing good for Texas
United boosters, and that all the blood that needed to be shed has already been shed. Only one head left to chop. The other stuff was hard (university president, that SOB athletic director -- I loved Dodds -- fight with legislature, lawsuits, booster dissension)... getting rid of Strong would be relatively easy.

Yeah but who is going to do the chopping when both the president and the AD support Charlie?

Politicians lie when convenient. Go figure?

What are the odds to you then? 60% chance he is gone after this season? 90% chance?

Gun to my head? All things considered, I'd say Texas has a 20 percent chance of Strong being fired this year.
I give a less than 10 percent chance that it's Saban who would succeed him.
So an 80 percent chance that Strong keeps his job and 90 percent chance that Saban is but a pipe dream.
All I am saying is that "it's possible."

80 percent chance that Strong is NOT fired.
90 percent chance that Strong's successor, if fired, would NOT be Saban.
Aren't those independent statements?

Saban will never live to coach another 10 yrs. Self imposed job stress will kill him young.

are there any rules that prevent a coach from coaching at two different schools?
would be beast
would be beast

Texas has way more money than Alabama.
Alabama is capable of selling their soul for Saban again. And they've actually profited from it. They were smart to do so, looking back.
But money isn't what motivates Saban. Doing an extraordinary thing at another school is what he wants, since the nfl is not his cup of tea.

Texas athletic department isn't the money machine it once was. The only sold 45,000 season tickets.
Texas is already paying off Mack Brown and the men's basketball Coach.
I can't see Nick Saban going to that shite conference to defend the spread every weekend.

I think it is far more likely Saban would take the right NFL job (decent team with a franchise QB; think Colts) for another shot at success because of the challenge and his legacy.
I agree. It has to eat at him that with all of his CFB success he was abysmal at the next level. His ego could drive him to do this especially if Bama wins it all this year.

He wasn't abysmal with miami. His first year they were 9-7 and 2nd in the division. You don't win without a quarterback. Period.

Texas could buy Alabama ten times. The money is the lure. Does Saban want to go to Austin?

Bama could and would match any realistic offer that Texas would make to Saban. He has complete control of the football program in Tuscaloosa and he's built a dynasty. We've already paid for his house and he's treated like royalty in the state of Alabama. There's no reason for him to leave. The Texas football program is definitely a step down from Alabama. Texas has better in state recruits but who has recruited better than Alabama over the past 8 years??
Texas
Bama
Texas

Bama

If Texas wants him that bad they won't make a realistic offer. They will give him a blank check. Texas boosters wayyyyyyyy richer and more influential than bama boosters. The only thing stopping saban from being at ut is saban. If he wants it ut will absolutely make it happen.
Awhile back a group of ut boosters wanted a coach out. They got together for dinner late on a Friday and after quite a few rounds of drinks one called and woke up the ad. He asked what was the coaches buyout which was several million. They passed the hat and the next morning coach was fired. Everyone in the room kicked in seven figures except one who is a Baylor guy and refused to pay.
Point is uts boosters are itching for their guy and have all the money in the world to throw at it.
Eta: not sure what the point of pics of ut on an off day compared to bama on game day? Both nice stadiums?

What UT boosters are capable of spending and what they will actually spend are completely different. Again, Bama would match any offer that Texas would actually make. I mean... are you thinking that Texas would offer Saban $20M a year or something ridiculous like that? Because realistically... there's not a shot in hell they would actually do that even though they are capable.
