Interesting take. I get why not announce Peterson, but IF it were Gruden....what are they waiting for?
Before it all went quiet as you mentioned there did seem to be solid "Currie is announcing on (this upcoming) Monday". Which is the busiest day of the year for a college agent, so is he going to make a big arse "mic drop"??
If it werent for the early signing period i'd be less ansty.

Doubtful. Still think he’s less likely than Gruden.

Season to be over. Let the kids finish tomorrow, and announce on Sunday. Not fair to add another distraction for Hoke to deal with.

Season is still ongoing, I don't see how announcing Gruden this year, as he can't just slide in right now, helps the team against Vandy, just a big distraction and takes away from what Hoke is doing.

You idiots never learn. I've never seen a fanbase run with every rumor, let alone you have the worst "insiders" ever.

I like this bad rumor.

Hoke is doing a fine job at that all by himself.

Peterson turned many high profile schools down while at BSU to go to his dream job. So him leaving his dream job to come to UT is BS.

It’s Petersen FFS. It’s right there in front of you.

I kind of get that if it were still jones. Errrbody knows Hokeis interim. IF it were Gruden...seriously it would just pump them up like sweet arse unis tenfold.
UT could lose 8 games in a season for the first time. Do whatever it takes to fire these kids up to whip vandy dam it. If it's Gruden have him in the locker room to give them a pep talk.

So none of the Vol folks seem to care that Petersen signed the most lucrative contract in the PAC, just this past April? His contract runs through 2023.
Y'all aren't going to keep paying Lyle, all of his staff, $6M+/yr to make it worth Petersen to leave the Huskies, his support staff AND the UWash buyout requires just for the privilege of obtaining his services. Not enough money flowing through Knoxville for that to be good math.

Maybe, but it's extremely fricking disrespectful to Hoke and completely undermines him. Why are the kids happy? Because he's no longer their coach and Gruden will be.
That's a grown man that's patrolled the sidelines of other top notch universities, and while it may pump up the kids, it's still a fricked up thing to do to him.

I do not believe it will be Petersen but Tennessee would have no problem paying what it would take if he did want to come.
Petersen makes roughly what Lyle made per annum and his buyout is only $1.5M.

His buyout is 1.5M
Pretty rock solid contract he set up there for himself, eh?

UT didn't have a choice. It's the way Gruden wanted it. He wanted to wait out of respect for the current coaches.

Yeah he's a grown man that can be told..."hey we just hired xyx, and we are going to have give the team the pep talk." he should be big enough man to say "heck yeah that's great". For the seniors. Pump the kids up for the fans that stuck around.
Frankly I dont care about hoke feeling "disrepected" like a little biatch. I care about us losing 8 games in one season for the first time, and losing to vandy and ky in the same season.

It's Gruden. Just heard from someone in Knoxville who has had good info on UT in past.
Congrats Vols
