His response was that he doesn't look at recruiting until after the season.
If this is true, thats pretty bad.

Isn't his record against LSU something like 2-9 or close to that.
State and Florida combined is 3-10.

It's all a crap shoot. Kelly had the resume and it made sense to assume he'd be successful here, and he wasn't.
So Mullen wasn't successful at Florida, so it makes sense that he wouldn't be successful here either.
The assumption about Kelly was wrong, so who's to say if the assumption about Mullen is wrong as well?
I feel like we can do better, but I do wonder- in this new age would it work to have our GM work to get the best players, and then Mullen's job to just coach them up? Is Texas Tech's success this year due to their coaching, or the players they can buy? Maybe a head coaches recruiting prowess isn't as important in this new era.
I don't think LSU is ready to be among the first to hire for this model, but I do wonder if at some point that won't be more of the normal path.

Florida fired him way too quickly IMO

Wasn't he fired at Florida? Is that really the coach you want to hire?
I believe some coaches can do better under different circumstances, but that's still wild to replace an expensive coach with a former fired from Florida coach.

Mullen is a prick. Don't want. Talk about Kelly not being a fit, Mullen would be horrible here..

Good coach, but not a well liked guy, smug, and doesn't recruit
It would be Kelly 2.0
Correct reminds me of Brian Kelly.

Mullen is built more for NIL era than he was then. You don't need to recruit anymore. Throw a bag and you got your guy. The little relationships matter you let assistants do this. Who do you think was up BK's butt in recruiting? He just did enough, it was mostly his assistants and bags recruiting. What BK setup here is good enough to recruit. He can also surround himself with recruiters alongside coaches. Not advocating for him to come, just saying it's not as hard as you're making it out to be. I daresay Mullen would be a better fit now than when he got fired at Florida.

He’s a hunchback

Ban this dipshit

He’s dick and, like Kelly, isn’t big on taking the blame for losing

Not the direction we want to go in. If we really are a top tier team like we claim, then you recruit top tier talent.
