Does Keenum get another year of eligibility?

someone in that thread said his non-Keenum record was 3-7, is that accurate?

They need to stop puffing and start listening to their SEC brethren. Urban was sure a great coach and I'm sure that they'd love two nattys, but his offense was a gimmick that stopped working whenever he lost his freak QB and DC. I just don't see Sumlin working out in the SEC. Strong or Smart people. Sumlin would do best at ASU! The folly of high expectations.

disagree
The better question is how delusional a majority of the SEC West fanbase will be in the future:
Bama- check
A&M- check
Arky- check
Aubie- check
Miss St- medium check
LSU- medium check
Ole Miss- minor check

aren't all SEC fanbases delusional in one way or another? doesn't that kind of come with the territory?

Vandy? nope
UK? nope
USC? maybe but not really
I'm talking full scale out of touch with reality delusion. Only maybe 4-5 have the full delusion package
IMO and the West seems to have cornered the market

I think with the right hire that includes a strong cadre of assistant coaches, A&M's program could rise much like Arkansas's has done with Petrino.

He's yet to show much without Case Keenum so I'll reserve judgement until I see more of it.

Disagree sumlin is not the answer they need a defensive minded coach

yeah, they lost Keenum and his backup for the yr in the same game. had to turn to a couple true freshmen. one put up some good stats, but threw a good amt of picks too.
the other was from BR and transferred to USL I believe.

After watching Houston today, I'm going to say more of the same at a&m.

Sumlin stock is dropping fast

USC fans are very delusional. They think they have an elite history.

just hire a good DC. A&M should be able to pay one.

I am beginning to think you are correct. Worst of all is that A&M prides itself on a strong defensive tradition, and it has completely forgotten that since firing RC Slocum back in 2003. Now, on the eve of joining the most defense-tastic conference in the country, the leading candidate is yet another offensive guru.
I like DeRuyter and the stats did not tell the whole story. So if Sumlin can come in, retain DeRuyter and then hit the recruiting trails and add some defensive talent, we may have something.
Also, I don't put much stock in Sumlin running a gimmick offense. Houston has gimmick players. When he was running the O at Oklahoma, he played a straight up and down offense that made Adrian Peterson famous. A&M has the OLine and the RBs to do the same in 2012, regardless of what happens with the defense.
All the same, I still think I'm taking the advice quoted above and hiring Smart or Strong... or hell, even Fedora. So.Miss looked stout against Keenum and Co. this afternoon.
Doesn't hurt that Strong loves A&M. Same with Fedora.
Frankly, I'm just glad to have candidates. We're already talking about 2 or 3 more names than the last time we went out and got Sherman.
