Players might be ok with it but zero chance their donors are ok forking out 75mil type of money to make their problem go away, only to hire their DL coach already on staff. The longer this goes and more public it becomes, they will get desperate and spend big money for a big name again even though they said they wouldnt this time.

If Elijah is basically an interim it doesn’t appear to have much downside. The players play hard for him

Players always play hard for an interim coach after the HC is fired.

That doesn’t mean the interim is a good permanent HC.

Eventually, players take advantage of an interim turned permanent head coach. And some guys aren't cut out to be head coaches, or at least not meant to learn in the SEC.

Zach Arnett may end up being a good head coach one day, but it took Mississippi State 11 games to find out he wasn't ready to be an SEC head coach. Tough circumstances he inherited, but he didn't seem to give them a reason to keep him, either.

They will hire him. They know they can save a good bit of money hiring him versus someone like Stoops. I bet he signs for only $4-5 million a year.

Ask the players how much of their NIL money they are willing to chip in for E's salary.

What a shite show.

You can your 100m coach.
You start your search and end up with Mike Stoops.
Fans / Donors revolt.
Pull Stoops offer.
Now you are hiring the DL coach who has next to zero HC experience.

What could go wrong?

O was about the only option for Alleva at the time. Herman was fucing with them on the money constantly increasing the ante.

I remember when we missed on Spurrier because the players rallied for Mike Archer.
