Steve Ensminger's Intentions

Correct me if I am wrong, but when O was selling himself to LSU last fall weren't we told that Ensminger had no desire to be the FT OC. What changed or was that a load of crap?

Orgeron is a conman and conmen are convincing.
Steve didn't want the gig last year and is probably getting his arm twisted to take it this year.
Orgeron is giving him a Co-OC to "lighten the load" probably.

This means that you don't really have one. Remember the Co-DC fiasco?

And throwing a stupid big contract with an absurd buyout clause at him, because Orgeron convinced Alleva that we needed to keep Ensminger at all costs even though he wasn't going anywhere.

They all get golden parachutes and get to retire after this failure. Maybe they just don't care about success.

I remember.
It can work if the head coach is really in charge of that side of the ball and its an honorary title of sorts.
But as we know, Orgeron can't be in charge of any side of the ball.

O probably telling him that he'll be the best paid coordinator in the SEC. $1.5 million.
Gonna suck arse when we are on the hook for that shite after O is fired. But then again, as a con man, O probably knows this and will use this as leverage in case shite hits the fan next season, which it will.
"Well they can't fire all of us, They gotta gimme one mo year to turn this around. We payin too many buyouts."

I consider myself fairminded and have had no problem giving O a chance, but I don't like being lied to and we have all been lied to.
You are right...he is a conman and this job is too big for him. He knows it.

Ensminger doesn’t want the job.

I recall someone posted a while back that O wasn't so worried about his annual salary as he was about his buyout terms. At the end of the day, O is taking care of his buddy who was instrumental in helping O land the big job when this thing ultimately goes south, which it surely will.

Everyone knew O wasn't going to get the job unless he hired a 'name' for offensive coordinator. I truly believe (no evidence, just gut feeling) Ensminger would have been happy to get the permanent bump and raise. But Alleva and O knew they couldn't sell that to the fans. So Ensminger had to take one for the team and stick to the reduced role. I have no doubt in my mind that if the fans would have lobbied hard for Ensminger last year, he would have been given the OC position then.
