Do you really need it explained to you?

so Jamail can buy up bad debt, write it up as a loss for the tax break but Saban's boss who has 8 figures of wealth can't?
Seriously guys just give me one logical reason, just one.
Uh, because Texas thought of it first?
Its too late for PBj, or REC, or the Bama nation to buy up Saban debt. Its done. No matter how much money that have
And yesterday over lunch in Beaumont, ole Joe told Nick that he would simply forget where he left that note, if he was celebrating the greatest hire in UT history

Saban just LOVES giving outsiders like rich boosters "authority" over hi
The question I was asking are UT admin and the "boosters" on the same page and by what authority do the boosters have to negotiate?

quote:You should see how most commercial real estate transactions are underwritten. I'm sure or would least expect Saban has assets totaling $25MM. That doesn't mean he is going to give them up to satisfy a $25MM default.
How in the world would he get on the hook for $25 mil without having the assets and investments to justify it?
Depending upon which state law the loan was underwritten, he could have had joint and several liability. Simply put, if one guarantor runs away, another guarantor is responsible for the entire amount owed.

For the record if you are going to pay a coach 40 million why not go after Sean Payton, Bellicheck, a Harbaugh, Mike Tomlin?
That is the statement you originally responded to!
So why would the number not have anything to do with those coaches? I know where you are coming from otherwise, I think, but if Peyton was offered a 40 million up front pay, he would leave tonight! LOL

They sought protection in bankruptcy in 2011. They could have elected to just lose the property but clearly it has worth. But one month ago the corp which owned the note and tried to foreclose on it in 2011 dissolved. Now either Saban and Spinosa came out of bankruptcy or someone bought the note. The note still had value.

This is my favorite crazy thread of all the crazy threads on this crazy thread-filled board. Congrats, you guys.

If you own someone's debt, you can "call it in" anytime you like.
Saban is ok, unless the owner of the debt doesn't call it in, if they do, every penny must be paid or they take all of your assets.
I think they can basically hold this over his head and "help" him decide he needs to be at UT

Lots of claims of public records, but I see NONE linked.

You're more than welcome to stay your arse on tidefans or any other Bama board. This is the type of shite that has ALWAYS happened on this board. It's only because you idiots are involved that it's gone to complete shite. The Miles to Michigan stuff in '07 was just like this.

My personal belief is, Mack is being forced out, and that wouldn't happen unless UT has their man.
This makes a lot of sense to me. Have to agree with this 100%.

Why would I do that? I said this was my FAVORITE.
Your little mini-melt is making you my favorite poster. I think I'm going to check your post history to see what other crazy gems I can mine from it.

You are so mad about contradictory views.

quote:He could potentially be exposed for the entire $40MM with joint and several liability if he provided that type of personal guaranty (still a stretch in my mind). The more likely resolution was Saban was able to negotiate a favorable settlement where his guaranty is released and his original investment still has some worth or even potential to make a return in the future.
Regardless, his true exposure can't be the entire PG amount on either one of those, right?
What I am getting at is that although on paper there is 40 mill in pg's under Saban's name, I bet the amount truly paid to clear him was much less.

Here's some "reality" for you to digest. Saban is a pretty smart person and a control freak. By allowing the individual to "lose the note" only empowers the person who owns the note. Saban is not going to allow anyone to have that power muchless over him.
