added to the public statements about LSU's willingness to go to "great lengths" to keep Aranda, in addition to the Aranda/Herman connection and the name drop by F King, seems to be a tip of the hand to me.

Aranda is supposedly the type not to like the spotlight. Seems like they may be using this publicity to lure Herman. Otherwise, he'd probably sign a long term contract making him the highest paid DC in CFB and that'd be the end.

That also seems to be a sticking point with all the "insiders". Aranda is a sticking point.

I can't say I'm following what you're trying to say.

I think the Aranda, Herman relationship is huge as well. How could you not want to go be a head coach of an elite program in the best conference with your former roommate as your defensive coordinator? I mean cmon!

Aranda would be foolish to leave after this year.
He'll be highly sought after by either Herman or Fisher.

I don't think that Herman's relationship with Aranda is as important as some people think.

That being said if LSU is dead set on keeping Aranda, any relationship between the two will help

Didn't I see that Herman's defensive coordinator was also nominated for the Broyles award, same as Aranda? Maybe he wants his own guy.

True, but Orlando could come here as a position coach and probably still get a raise. Not saying he will. Most Alpha types don't like to take a step backwards, even if it's only in job title.
