Sources tell 247Sports that Gamecocks coach Shane Beamer doesn’t view South Carolina’s current philosophy as a restoration project and believes a simplified pro-style scheme with less personnel groupings is what the Gamecocks need moving forward. This is where Loggains comes into the fold.

Other coaches believed to be in the mix for South Carolina's play-calling duties previously included TCU's Garrett Riley, Kendal Briles at Arkansas, Duke's Kevin Johns and Graham Harrell at West Virginia, among others.

Loggains has never spent more than three seasons at one stop since spending the first five years of his coaching career with the Tennessee Titans in various roles. He was later an offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears (2016-17), Miami Dolphins (2018) and New York Jets (2019-20) before teaming up with Sam Pittman and the Razorbacks. Former South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw gave Loggains his seal of approval Wednesday night on Twitter, writing “we just got better” after noting that he played under the ex-quarterbacks coach with the Browns and Bears.

Fanbase is pissed. They talked themselves into a Big Name, a la Longo.
Beamer shopping at the DG.

That’s awful
He’s one of those NFL names that was just always around. Was Bill Lazor not available?

What, was David Lee or Brian Schottenheimer unavailable?

Shaw infamously endorsed Kurt Roper, and that guy was a functional invalid.

Definitely the fault of JC, Brad, etc. They spent a week basically saying and letting their board insiders say it’d be either Mullen or Briles when neither was really a realistic option. Tough for the fans to walk back from that after getting their hopes up for 7+ days.

Should have thrown the bank at Garrett Riley

Agreed. They did the same thing with our most recent coaching searches in football and basketball. Had half of South Carolina convinced that Sean Miller was going to be the basketball coach, only to have the rug pulled out from under them.
It's not an attractive job to anyone with options, in any sport. I don't know why- I truly don't. But it's not a desirable job at all.

That’s what the Faggies are trying to do

Those guys are such tools. They do this with every single coaching search.
