South Alabama’s Kane Wommack has agreed to a contract extension through the 2028 season, the school announced Thursday.

The Jaguars finished the regular-season at 10-2 in Wommack’s second year on the job, recording the most victories since becoming an FBS program in 2012. They also doubled their 2021 win total and qualified for a bowl game for the first time since 2016

Erdmann told AL.com that Wommack’s new contract will pay him $810,000 per season, up from $700,000 under his original contract, which ran through 2025. The new deal also includes budgetary increases for on-field assistant coaches and other off-field staff, though buyout amounts will remain similar.

He is a slam dunk to head to Indiana next year when they fire Allen. That program went into the shitter as soon as Wommack left.

He can do better than Indiana if he keeps winning at South Alabama. It’s remarkable the job he’s done there and I hope they hold onto to him for a few years.

He might be A&M's next coach. By 2028 I think A&M will only owe Jimbo $29M if they fire him.

If Pittman tanks next year, he might end up back at Arkansas.

Didn’t realize that Major Applewhite is the OC and Mike Smith (Jesuit alum) is the WR coach. Not familiar with the other coaches but they’ve done a great job.

This is great news!

From my days on the club football team to being part of the charge to add football, it's nice to see some good coaching, I wish they gave him a bit more of a bump personally, but I mean if a better program gives him a shot then he gone regardless.
