Herman's agent didn't leak this to ESPN. ESPN cited hornsdigest.com and Chris Low (who more than likely had a Texas source). Its probable that LSU and Herman agreed in principle and his agent was letting Texas know that his client was about to be off the market (counter offer), and they freaked and leaked it out to make LSU and Herman look bad. This does nothing good for Herman or LSU, it IS good for Texas if it helps nix the deal.

If he ends up at UT and we still want him he'll be available in a couple years. That program is in the outhouse.

I disagree. If I'm herman, I'm furious at UT for this. Pick up the phone and talk to my agent, but to put me on fricking blast on espn when I have a bunch of kids to lead tomorrow is shitty.

All these kids he is leading tomorrow already know he is leaving. Would guess that most would be happy for him going on to a major program like LSU or Texas.

Why disagree then? I'm saying the same thing pretty much. Hopefully he looks at this and sees how much of a shitshow Texas is.

The more I thought about it, the less I think it was Herman's agent. What could he possibly gain out of doing this? If Herman truly wants to go to Texas it'll happen eventually. Either way Herman is getting paid by UT or LSU. No reason to start a "bidding war" as neither LSU or UT would cooperate with that bullshite.

It was most likely a Texas booster who wanted UT to jump on it and be decisive about Charlie Strong. It's in very bad taste and will likely turn Herman away from Texas.
Jimmy Sexton and Trace Armstrong actually have a reputation of not doing such things. They represent so many big names and in so many potentially conflicting interest situations it would be a nightmare for just a couple of bigger payoffs on commissions; would hurt them long-term (and they wouldn't have become 'super agents')

You suggested this was good for UT. If they leaked, this is a Hail Mary. UT has a later Friday game than UH, so UT is on the outside looking in if herman is indeed ready to sign with LSU.

Precisely. It might not help Texas but that's exactly what this was. A Hail Mary. And make no mistake, this was leaked by Texas.

Maybe, just maybe, those Shorthons did Shorthon things? Like believe their own propaganda that Herman would hold out for them. Like let their egos get the better of them and think that there's no way in hell LSU could pull someone out from under them.

So when reality was staring them in the face they tried a hail mary.

If you follow what is going on in Texas. The AD was ready to fire Strong last week. Boosters upset. The UT chancellor William McRaven got involved with the coaching search. He wanted to at least wait till after final regular season game. Some say he may want to keep Strong.

Now to the hornsdigest.com story. The one that made LSU fans happy a few hours ago. It said LSU set a deadline for a response from Herman on Wednesday. Hearing LSU officials met Wednesday with Herman or agent.

Now to Herman. Is Texas his dream job that numerous stories have stated. Was he wanting the Texas job? Was he afraid to not give LSU an answer because he was afraid UT chancellor may say keep Strong. And Herman was afraid he would lose out on both jobs.

Now to the leak. The leak on the LSU deal had to come from Herman, his agent, or LSU. They would be the only three parties to know about it. Did the agent leak the info to a Texas booster to try to force the UT chancellor hand? Makes sense.

Look, I'm assuming that SOMEONE from Texas had to be talking to Hermans agent. Now, if Herman is close to making a deal, his agents job is to notify other parties involved and let them know. That's their job. That's not leaking shite, that's literally what he's supposed to do to try and maximize his clients income. This leak by whomever at Texas is a ploy to stall and create as much disruption as possible. You think leaking this to ESPN while LSU is playing on ESPN was a coincidence? Hell no. Some of you need to see this for what it is. A hack job done by the Texas higher ups.
