So we were thinking the new hires will come after the bowl games....

How come Texas can hire someone whose season isn’t over?

After the Saints are out of the playoffs. O is going to hire two of their position coaches as LSU coordinators.

Huge difference in hiring a head coach and an OC/DC.

Because O is doing what O does. Has a big head and way too much confidence about situations similar to how he recruits. He thinks everyone loves LSU like him and he thinks he has silent commits in the bag and gets torched every year with sometimes no backup plans. This is what he's doing here on the coaching staff. He thinks he's getting some world class NFL coaches waiting on them when by the time they all tell him NO he has no other options to go for in NCAA when it's ripe right now with plenty of good coaches to pick.
We got burned last year needing to settle with Pelini because all the hires were already done so the cupboard wasn't full then though we certainly could've did better.
That, or maybe O is starting to get a bad reputation in coaching circles. Wouldn't be hard to believe considering all the heads he has been locking with lately on his hires. Actually kinda scary to think about now that Slinger is retired.

God forbid an LSU head coach have and project some confidence. What could he be thinking?
Posted on 1/2/21 at 4:10 pm to Larry_Hotdogs
Yeah, god forbid he over projects his position and fricks us over like he has done many times over as examples here in his short tenure. There's a difference between being confident and having a big head.

He definitely has done this in the past and been burned. No doubt about that. However I think he is learning from it. This year he decided not to hold many spots for silent commits which I appreciate.

Do you have any evidence this is true?

We likely could have done better but last year we were playing for a national championship so that's why hires were late more than anything else.

I do not like this aspect of O and I hope he realizes it is not productive and gets it fixed. Throwing shade at Aranda pre season makes him look like a fool after the defensive performance this year.

Nah, it's purely speculation obviously but I know O's personality. Seems logical to me. I don't fault him for his love but the man needs to do a much better job reading people. That's probably his poorest attribute.

Didn’t an NFL team offer him $20 million a year and franchise ownership to leave LSU?

You are half retarded. STFU! MFers have no patience. Like he doesn't know he has to get these hires right. Could be likely coaches are turning down the offers or Coaches won't speak until there are done with their season. Some of you guys just automatically assume the worse. Must been scarred as a child. IFSFY!

I agree w OP. Seems ever since the Miles to Michigan debacle by ESPN that there has been some sort of honor code in place to wait until someone’s season is over to make or announce hires.
Texas said frick that and went and got their guy.

O's erection for NFL coaches will be his downfall. He just doesn't understand.

Understand that Brady was one of the best LSU football hires ever?

We got so screwed we ended up with the greatest season in CFB history.
Lighten up, Francis. Let him do his job.

Well, I mean you can't deny that but if you look at his other seasons here he has fricked up royally on the hiring. So that goes both ways...or you can say he got incredibly lucky because he has shite the bed more often than not. We just had the worst defense we've seen in at least 20+ years at LSU.
He's not a good enough X and Os coach to have the luxury of fricking up on hires which he has done a little too much in his short tenure here. There's more to Pelini being a bad hire this year. O made several stupid moves on top of insisting for a 4-3 when his personnel dictated a 3-4. He's as much to blame for the defense sucking as Pelini on top of approving the hire for good ole Woody.
O is costing LSU millions every year with the door being shown to them. How about he start donating some his salary to TAF for a rah rah coach he can't even do the X and Os? He also has done an absolute shite job of roster management in recruiting partly because he has been burned for guys he thought were in the bag. He has almost an entire class right now he recruited that's not even on our roster anymore due to attrition/busts. It's not just that LSU lost all those players last year, it's because he did a poor job filling the depth recruiting wise now we're in desperate situations in certain positions on our roster and it will take a few years to even get to 80 ships on it. There's several positions that are getting dangerously close to desperate too.

This is precisely why I think Woodward is having a say in these hires

Can never take away the greatest season ever last year. Nobody is ever going to convince me another coach will get that lucky again in my lifetime. O has to be the luckiest coach ever with the perfect storm.
Got to catch lightning in the bottle with him problem is most times it fizzles out when it comes to his hiring.

Gene Chizik caught lightning in a bottle as well. Not saying O is Chizik-esque but also not saying O is outta the woods on that comparison as well.
