rumor is they want to make sure they can hire a decent coach. Put out feelers to Hoke and Miles, I guess.

UM firing went long to rub it in for RR allowing practices to go too long.

Must mean they have a coach wrapped up now, unlike the first time.

Seems the only logical explanation. Maybe they could have been looking to reach out to other coaches as well. Seems like a weird situation for sure.

they wanted harbaugh

thought $5M per would get him

harbaugh declined, so they had to make sure they still had RR for their 2nd-tier candidates

found a match and got a verbal agreement

so tehy fire RR

Big businesses (and The University of Michigan is a big business)don't deal with difficult situations on the timetable dictated by the public whose only connection to the event is their voyeurism. Maybe there was a family issue that Michigan was willing to be sensitive to. Maybe the details of the buyout agreement required more extensive negotiation than one day would allow. Maybe the President of the University had other obligations and her signoff couldn't be obtained in time for the 6:00 news cycle. shite takes time, and your desire to know what's happening is way, way down in the list of priorities they are dealing with.
