So the ship tanks in 2 years. We fire O. Why promote Aranda? Why internal hire again?

I'm sorry, I just don't see it. Instead of going out and getting a world class coach, we going to take retreads from a former staff?
I just don't see it. Aranda is a good coach but that doesn't make him head coach material. What happened to this program being world class; now it just seems World Star.

I actually agree. If he wants to stay as DC great
If not...we have to clean house to install a new culture. More internal inertia isn't needed

Because Aranda will see the folly of meddling on that side of the ball, will take the best OC available and let him do his thing.
At least that's the theory - it's certainly better than the theory that got us to fire Miles to hire O.

Agree
That’s why I was ready for a totally new regime after Les. If the new coach wanted to keep Aranda or any staff member, fine, but shouldn’t be mandated.
Nobody, including Aranda, isn’t replaceable.

Part of the question I have about this Coach in Waiting malarkey I keep seeing posted. The next AD is going to want to pick his own crew. I do not expect Aleva to get another bite at the apple.

Aranda's contract makes it likely that he will either be offered the HC job or whoever would be next HC would have to agree to keep him.
I don't see an O buyout and a 5-7.5 million buyout for Aranda too.
Not happening.

For a few reasons:
1. Aranda would always have the defensive side of the ball solid.
2. He’s known for his incredible work ethic and attention to detail. Those are two hallmarks of successful head coaches.
3. Players love playing for him and coaches love working with him. These two things, combined with previous two, are great indicators of future success.
4. He’s clearly intelligent enough to adapt to his environment. He can think outside the box to hire outside the program.
In summation – Intelligence, work ethic, adaptability, attention to detail, respect from peers, and youth.
And he's not from Louisiana. He's not "one of us", which goddamnit, appears to be what we need.

Aranda should be HC now

No - because it is easier to see/adjust to others' mistakes than one's own - that's a fact.

Aranda can run mental laps around Orgeron.
They aren't in the same stratosphere of coaching and intelligence. Period.

Its not fair to equate the two

Aranda has all the characteristics of a star in the making. All the “he only wants to be a DC” talk is nothing more than a rant tale. He said some things and the rant has turned that into indisputable inevitable fact. If he wants the gig, id like to be the school that finds out if he’s the real deal cause if he leaves, he’s never coming back. It’s not like he’s some entrenched, O minion that’s part of the good ole boy club. It’s like he’s the black sheep of this coaching staff

Promoting Aranda means LSU sticks with Alleva. A new AD is not going to come in and let the former AD dictate who the football coach will be. No way, Alleva has to go and if that means Aranda has to go too, so be it. Clean house.

Aranda is a 'legit' 3rd option, if you go after a few big time coaches and get shot down.
Posted on 1/8/18 at 10:05 am to YoungManOldMan
Because Aranda is by far the closest thing you’re going to get to a world class coach
I’d bet just about anything I own that Aranda would bring in a modern o coordinator and give them autonomy.

I promote Aranda to HC/DC.
Raymond becomes Co-DC/DB coach. If he doesn't get promoted and a raise I think he will eventually get poached. He can continue to learn under Aranda.
Meatball remains as DL coach.
Hire a LB coach.
Aranda is smart enough to find a good OC and not get caught up in good ole boy cronyism.

Bayou Cowboy, I said the something keep the defensive staff hire a lb or safety coach who can recruit.
And use the other 6 spots on the offensive side of the ball

I said this the other day and got downvoted to shite. LSU Fans wont accept another internal hire if this ship sinks. It will get really ugly.
Would be really hard to explain that in the world of college football.
