This was the worst team in college fb 10-15 years ago.

They have no money, no resources, mediocre facilities

The job napier has done cannot be overstated. WOW...

People can debate whether he's the right candidate for lsu and I'll listen to both arguments, but what's not a debate is he's spent way more weeks in the top 25 polls the last two years than lsu. What Orgeron has done with our resources vs what he's done with his, it's an embarrassment how far he outclassed O

I’m always happy to see any Louisiana program do good. The job he has done is amazing. Have watched a couple games this year. I would love for LSU to get this coach, but at the same time hate you see a coach of this quality leave me he Cajuns program.

Bustle was putting up .500 seasons 15 years ago and Hud was piling up New Orleans Bowls 10 years ago.

I'm sure he would gladly swap for the number 6 ranked strength of schedule if he could have LSU's talent and resources

Are you counting the 22 wins Hud and ULL had to vacate due to NCAA violations?

10 years ago they went 9-4 won a bowl game and came in second in their conference. Mind you they played 2 power 5 games rather than one like Napier does.

Hard to think that the worst team in college football won a bowl

Napier worries me because we've seen G5 coaches continually crash and burn when they get the larger jobs. They fail much more than they succeed. The last few up and comers crashed hard. I'm thinking of Herman and Frost. They were supposed to be amazing program builders as well. Look where they are. The programs they took over are in much worse shape now than they were before. Napier could be the exception, but I'd rather not see LSU take that chance personally. Sure, they're ranked in the top 25 right now, but does anyone seriously think they could beat LSU or any other perennial power team in the SEC? Doubtful. I'd rather take Aranda who has shown he can last as a DC at a major program. Napier was fired his one season as an OC at Clemson. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence in his offensive philosophies.

Yeah. What actually happened is a much more accurate metric than some stupid NCAA ruling later on.

Nothing short of a complete disgrace and that is an absolute understatement.
Ogre is as bad or worse than everything said about him before he was hired at LSU.

However, the NCAA forced Hudspeth to vacate 22 wins from 2011 to 2014, including the 2011 and 2013 New Orleans Bowls and 2013 Sun Belt Conference co-championship, due to NCAA violations involving academic fraud and payments to players by an assistant coach.

Paying players and academic fraud is a little more than a stupid NCAA ruling.

Hudspeth got caught again while coaching at Austin Peay and was fired. He coaches HS football now.

Napier’s records are inflated by at least 1 game/year compared to hudspeth due to scheduling differences. They have made a conscious effort to decrease the amount of power 5 schools they play. Good for the program IMO but needs to be taken in context

Fine, you pretend they went 1-4 a decade ago and the 8 other games faded into oblivion.

I agree and Napier would by any measure be a risky hire. He's a good coach and has done very well at ULL. That doesn't necessarily mean he's ready to take over a program like LSU.

There are a lot of other options that are "safe" picks and I'm sure as intriguing as Napier may be he's not near the top of Scott's list.

Just say your want an established coach in a power5 program !

Coaches have to start off somewhere, and they don’t start off coaching at the top.

I think this guy has more than earned a P5 job.

I just don't think LSU is a good fit for him now, or that LSU needs to take the risk of hiring a Sunbelt coach.

Urban Meyer had to go to two G5 programs before Florida. Saban had to go to Toledo and then Mich St. I think Napier proving himself at a lower P5 school is a reasonable expectation before being considered for a top job like LSU.

Nationwide pundits consider LSU a premier top 5 job. A candidate for a premier top 5 job should at the very least be an elite mind proving it as coordinator at a premier championship program, be winning at a mid tier P5 program or have elite success at multiple G 5 programs.

Napier does not fit any of these and in fact you could argue whether or not he has been elite at ULL relative to others who have moved up to a top tier program-typically they make a bcs bowl etc (urban at Utah frost at UCF Kelly at Cincinnati)

He may be great but he hasn’t earned a job like LSU even compared to the people in the second tier
