If this is true, forget it about it....he will be gone as a pecan...

And stop that he has not been contacted...on the ticker, it has said he HAS been contacted by the "U" and I am damn sure his agent and his crew have "backchanneled" on interest.

he's set for a pay raise over 2.2mil so this is pretty irrelevant.

Joker makes 1.7 mil, Mullen would be making at least 2.2mil if he stays at MSU this season.

I'm tired of hearing people talk about what Mullen makes like we can't pay him more. He might make up into the 3 range plus incentives next year. He was an unproven assistant coach. In a regular sales job, if you are coming out off college and replacing a guy that has been doing the job for 20 years, should you make as much as him? Hell no, you make the minimum and after you prove yourself, you might get a raise. Same with Mullen. He was an offensive coordinator and came to state for a head coaching spot. We gave him a minimum contract of 1.2. now he's in a bowl game, and has improved both years at State. Now his salary will double. It makes sense. Like our AD said, no one has ever left State because they couldn't pay them what they deserved. Also we received a large donation that will go to good use in keeping Dan in Starkville. He also knows the pressure and is not too fond of the administration and boosters at Florida. His wife does not like them at all. He'll be at State next year with a nice pay raise.

Exactly, Croom made 1.7. Some act like it would be ok to spend 2.5 million for coach that won 5 games.

If Mullen left and we hired a head coach to come to Starkville, he would not start out at 1.2. It's pretty simple stuff.

What a difference a few years make. I remember when Saban came to LSU in 2000 he signed a 1.2 Million (I think it was 1.6 Million) contract to come to LSU and he was the 3rd highest paid HC in the country. Now we are in 2010 and Head coaches are making 4-5 millions dollars with probably atleast half of FBS Head Coaches making atleast a million a year. Amazing how much priorities have changed in the country in the last decade.
