So Is Kelly The New Coach At Notre Dame?

Interviewed with the Irish but will not talk about it. Cincy AD says Kelly will address the team this weekend at their annual football banquet. For the first time ever, no media will be allowed at the banquet.

if i was a domer I'd be disappointed if it was Kelly. After hearing so many big names thrown around like Meyer, Stoops, Gruden, etc. would be a letdown. It's like preparing for sex with Megan Fox and getting the mom from Jon and Kate plus 8 instead.

I think it's a done deal. Press conference scheduled for tomorrow at ND. Cincy's players had a meeting earlier and he told them he's leaving for ND.

He may turn out to be a great coach but I think he's got Dan Hawkins written all over him.

Mortenson is reporting that Kelly will be the next coach at ND

I think he's a much safer bet than Hawkins, who had success at only 1 place (where several other coaches did very well - Koetter, Nutt). Kelly's won at 3 different stops. That's normally a sign of a good coach, rather than a good job where a lot of people succeed.

I really hope for Notre Dame's sake that they at least tried to contact Meyer and offer him the farm. Would be foolish not to.

There is no press conference scheduled yet up here. Jeff jeffers just said that himself on the news ( he's the most trusted local news reporter, for WNDU, one of the 5 Weis gave interviews to last week)
