A few notes, admitting Jimbo isn't the most exciting/high ceiling candidate:

4 years prior to becoming FSU head coach FSU record: 30-22 (57%)
8 years as FSU head coach: 83-23 (78%)
4 years since departing FSU record of FSU: 18-26 (41%)

FSU recruiting class rankings under Jimbo:
#8
#2
#4
#11
#4
#3
#3
#6

FSU recruiting class rankings post Jimbo:
#11
#18
#22
#22
#13

------

4 years prior to becoming A&M head coach A&M record:
31-21 (59%)
4 years as A&M head coach: 33-13 (72%)

A&M recruiting class rankings 8 years while Jimbo at FSU:
#16
#34
#16
#9
#5
#11
#18
#13

Jimbo recruiting rankings at A&M:
#17 (had a month or 2)
#4
#6
#8
#5

-----

Let's not act like Jimbo wouldn't recruit at a championship level at LSU and win a ton of games.

Elite recruiting is not the same as elite coaching.

Look at O.

ETA: Look at the trajectory of record at FSU on the way out

He had a lot to do with that. He destroyed FSU.

I don’t understand the jimbo hate at all. I get he’s not the sexiest hire but I really believe he would have us competing for championships pretty quickly. And from the sounds of it, we better be hoping it’s jimbo at this point. Better him than mark freakin stoops.

The Aggie melt would be awesome to see, too.

I don't hate Jimbo Fisher. I just don't want LSU to hire a coach that produces mediocre results.

Also, if he was hired at LSU and didn't do well, LSU would likely be stuck with him for a while considering the guaranteed buyout he would get.

So Jimbo "destroyed" FSU forever with one bad year which got out of hand after they lost a close game with Alabama and lost their QB for the season? Seems a little extreme.

In 2016 FSU finished #8 after winning the Orange Bowl. Came into 2017 ranked #3. Had a terrible year. Destroyed? Ridiculous.

These numbers mean nothing

He's in year 4 of his program with every resource available to him, has dropped 3 conference games to teams with less talent, and is riding the wave of beating Bama's worst team in over a decade. A Bama team that if they played 10x they'd lose 9 of them. His offense is outdated and he refuses to acknowledge it.

Now he's getting commits from a bunch of guys who programs think are unsignable due to their open money demands. Reeks of desperation.

I don't think he's a bad coach but to guarantee him $100 million?

Now we're acting like Texas A&M is a program that should win 11-12 games a year? When have they ever been elite in their entire existence. A&M doesn't roll out of bed and win/recruit like they are doing now. It's going to be a complete pain in the arse dealing with these people as they accumulate more and more talent.

He isn't a bad coach. He isn't worth what it would take to get him here. That's it.

I bolded the 2019 class because t.u. backers in 247 (cough, cough, Bobby Burton, cough, cough) quite literally cooked the books to put their class above A&M's by keeping Bru McCoy in their class even after he rescinded his LOI and went to USC.

70% win percentage isn’t in the budget.

Cool Jimbo can recruit. So could Ed O and look where we are. We need somebody innovative and young. Not another older guy who still wants to run his own offense that is entirely too demanding on QBs and is still behind the curve and Jimbo is the stubborn type to never relinquish his play calling duties.
