Would you be pleased with RichRod?

Not sure if you're trying to pass a joke by on a clueless dude like me, but I'm going to assume you're not.

Looking at his season records at Arizona, overall records are pretty good. Conference records though are a little concerning. 2-1 record in Bowl Games, won a conference division title with them last year.

Well, it at least looks better than what we have this season. Of course you have to question how long it would take him to build up his idea of a team and if it would be good enough in the SEC.

His 152–104–2 overall coaching record looks alright, but I know he'd have a much tougher time playing at the SEC level. He'd have a better time in the East than the West, so that'd be a plus I guess.

TL;DR: Overall, I guess I'd be content to see what he could do.

Not passing a joke at all. I think RichRod would do well at South Carolina. Wouldn't hurt to try Lincoln Riley either, though.

You're right. But Muschamp would be.

You should take a shot at a coordinator like Lincoln Riley before going for Muschamp

Dykes, Muschamp, Elliott, RichRod, Riley or Schiano? I'd think Rich Rod is the pick there.

RichRod and Schiano are both solid options from that list.

I think Schiano is a guy who really flies under the radar as a quality candidate. He won at an historically terrible program like Rutgers and actually built it into something. He stayed there for over a decade, and he's already flamed out in the NFL. It's not like he's a job hopper, so he'd be a safe hire.

Plus, MMQB had a great longform on him last year talking about how's spent the last 2 years consistently touring successful football programs and spending a lot of time with guys like Saban, Meyer and Stoops trying to learn as much as he can about how they run their programs and sustain success so that he can implement it in his next stop. If there's one guy whose actually "learned" from past mistakes and arguably prepared himself to be a better head coach, it's him. Pretty interesting read.

LINK

quote:

Schiano’s main job has been preparing for his next interview. He’s traveled from Columbus to Tuscaloosa to Foxboro refining how he’d run a college program or NFL franchise.

quote:

Schiano also spent a week behind the scenes with Bill Belichick, a mentor and close friend. Schiano’s takeaway from New England was the culture Belichick created, one in which everyone sees football from the “Patriot viewpoint.” Schiano spends time refining such elements as red zone defensive philosophy and teaching.

quote:

Schiano visited Alabama, where his friend and former assistant Mario Cristobal is the offensive line coach and assistant head coach. He came away impressed with the synchronization of Nick Saban’s program, not to mention the facilities in Tuscaloosa. Schiano found himself sneaking cell phone pictures of lockers, noting their size as fodder for his next stop. When Alabama players left the practice field, they all had customized smoothies waiting for them, high-calorie for guys trying to gain weight and low-calorie for those needing to drop pounds. “Everything is systematized,” he says, “from nutrition to academic support.”

quote:

Schiano visited Arkansas, where a former assistant, Robb Smith, is defensive coordinator. He admired the way Bret Bielema’s energy rippled through the program and left Fayetteville with a macro takeaway. “I’ve known Bret for a lot of years, and just the way he approaches everything, he enjoys himself,” Schiano says.

might as well just hire Fat Charlie or Joker..

kidding of course, but I'd offer a guy like Barry Odom the job before Muschamp, more upside potential and you don't wind up looking desperate by trying to resurrect another ex FL coach.

I want Riley. If we're going to roll the dice, we may as well go all in. If Riley doesn't work out, frick it. We hire someone else when there isn't 800 other jobs open.

I will be content with Muschamp, because I feel he can put a good staff together. But I will be very disappointed given how long Tanner has had.

yea amazing how fast the market collapsed not long after Spurrior retired, when the coaches at Memphis, Toledo, and Bowling Green are all hot commodities it's not a good year for a mid level program to be looking.

Except A&M.

Kevin Sumlin has yet to show that he can beat Will Muschamp in any way, shape, or form.

Rich Rod is quite a character --- just picture the stuff he would say at Dabo.

On the other hand, Muschamp might roid out and physically pop Dabo like a zit...

Wouldn't that be worth it?

On the brightside, y'all did okay with the last former UF HC y'all hired.

Y'all got super unlucky with UGA opening up like it did. Otherwise, I think Kirby heads to Columbia.

A strong Carolina is good for the SEC East and the SEC as a whole, so I hope whoever y'all hire works out.

Coaching searches SUCK. It sounds all new and exciting before you actually fire/accept the resignation of your current coach. And then the anxious reality sets in as you watch other programs lock down all the possible candidates.

It worked out well for Alabama fans last time but I'm here to tell you that time period from Thanksgiving (when Shula was fired) to January 7th (when Saban was announced) was AWFUL. Thinking we got spurned by Rich Rod and listening to all the media say Alabama was done and would never get someone like Saban was the worst.

I feel for y'all.
