It's a smarter move than going to a small school that's hard to win at as a HC. He loses there and his HC-ing career is over. At Auburn if his defense isn't great they will just blame it on the HUNH.

This is a great hire for Auburn. Always loved Gus, so hiring WM gives me even more reason to like AU out of the West. Good luck to you guys.

Pretty solid move definitely sends a message in Tuscaloosa's direction.

Made sense, and he's wanted to stay in the SE (only exception was Texas a few years). Good hire for AUB. Bad HC at UF, but incredible DC otherwise. Wish him well, except when he plays UF

I'm not sure this bothers Les or Saban very much. They both seemed to be able to score on the Gators.

I don't think we play Michigan anytime soon.

Bad for Muschamp. This is a poor move career wise if he ever wants to be a head coach again. I don't see any upside for him -- unless he just wants to be a career coordinator.

Dang, did you try to warn him? I'm sure if Muschamp knew you didn't see any upside for him, he would have reconsidered. Maybe he hasn't signed yet, you should help him with career advice.

This is surprising to me, but it is a nice paycheck. I don't think I can remember a head coach at a top 5 school getting canned and immediately taking a coordinator job at another school. Like, ever. Good hire for Auburn.
ETA I guess Kiffin would qualify.

When did UF pick up Weiss as OC. Was it right after he was canned from ND or a year after?

Not sure. I guess it's more common than I recall. Maybe it's just the SEC HC going to be a SEC assistant.
