Who in here actually believes anything mack brown could do would have torpedoed saban to Texas if saban had actually wanted to go to Texas? This will be an efficient way to get a comprehensive list of completely delusional rantards.

Mack didn't torpedo anything. Everything is on schedule.

I actually believe that Mack has more power in Austin than people realize. He is the unofficial mayor there, and if he REALLY didn't want Saban there, Saban wasn't coming.

Call it what you want. Saban to Texas was a huge scam to get Saban more money. He may or may not have gone. There was legs to this.

Idgaf either way, JMHO.

I think UT's decision makers weren't united and it was an opening for Mack to delay things

I don't think Saban did more then heavy flirting.

I think Saban showed interest, was interested, and decided to stay at Alabama for whatever reason. Could Mack Brown have stopped Saban from coming? No way.

He tried.. may have worked. Dunno. If it is deeply rooted as some claim it will happen. Saban has no buyout in the contract. We shall see

My thinking, since these reports leaked a few months ago, was that they did nothing but hurt Texas' chances.

I don't think Saban was going to TX. He did play Bama very well. I'm wondering now if Saban can still squeeze another million a year out of them before UT hires another coach.

This, this, so much this. Mack had a LOT of pull. He was best friends with all of the big money boosters as well as Dodds and Powers. He was able to suffer 3 or 4 of the worst losses to OU in Texas history because of how buddy buddy he was with anyone who had any pull at UT. There's a reason Mack has Joe Jamail as his personal lawyer

He wanted to coach another year but was forced to resign. If Mack had it within his power to torpedo Saban then Mack would not be resigning.

Anyone that truly thinks Mack stopped Saban is seriously dillusional. Anyone that the University of Texass AD made a run at Saban is also dillusional.

Was a splinter group of boosters and nothing more. If Saban had indicated he was interested then the pressure would have been on the AD and Mack supporters to pursue Saban.

Exactly. Hell, AU has a chance to hang more banners than bama over the past 4 seasons. The so called bama dynasty has been one of the most over hyped media creations in all of sport.
