re: Shouldn't Drinkwitz be in the mix for high level jobs?

IMO I think he’s still learning on the job. Missouri has allowed that as they knew it would be a process to get back to pinkel success. Addition of OC has showed he’s evolving and developing. Is he an elite game day coach I would say no. he does seem to understand how to connect with recruits and how to manage NIL. I would say he has done more with less when all considered. He’s getting close to that point in his career where he needs to define his end game. He could stay at Mizzou, keep team competitive, be paid very well and spend his off time under the radar. Or he could go route of Jimbo, high risk, high reward and everything under the microscope.

Without Schrader, who is basically a lottery ticket walk-on that Drink said he never even watched tape on, let him on the scout team because a booster asked him to, Mizzou would be dog shite this season.
Just to put it in perspective.

I disagree. He had schrader last year and no where near the success. He delegated OC duties towards end of last year and brought in OC this year. It’s been night and day as he became more of a ceo coach. I wasn’t a fan but I have to give him his due the last year and a half. He has evolved to address his gaps.

Schrader runs through wide open holes because they switched to zone blocking. He's hardly ever touched because the oline is very good at zone blocking. Schrader gets the credit but the oline is killing it.

Drink can do as he pleases, but Mizzou has money. What kind of stewards of that money remains to be seen.
He is building a foundation. Mizzou has finally established SEC line play, and the talent is going to be replenished with his recruiting classes. This year is not a fluke. Mizzou will be tough to play for the foreseeable future.
Maybe he leaves in the middle of that, maybe he doesn’t. But Mizzou has enough money to keep him - if it’s simply about money.

Mizzou could double the pay with ease if they wanted too. Just because we're not known to overpay, doesn't mean we're broke.

Read my previous posts, I even said people need to chill on drink because he's really only has this year to show. I was just saying we could pay him a ton more than we do to keep him, if we wanted too. Not saying we should.

Kinda how all the LSU fans said that BK was the best coach in the SEC after last season?

He’s a pretty good coach and is doing well there. There’s something about him though that makes me wonder if he’s at his level. Like he seems a little thin skinned and whiny at times which never cuts it at the big time jobs. Im sure they’d be happy to keep him a few more years.
I just question whether he has the near-sociopathic drive to recruit which is what the top tier programs have to demand right now. Obviously that's not the entirety of it, but I think guys who recruit reasonably well but not at insane levels and are football dorks tend to have their ceiling in this era of CFB.

Exactly. He could coach for as long as he wants at Mizzou winning 7 or 8 games most years then the occasional 10 win season every few years when the stars align.
That’s fine if you think they should be Iowa
But this is the SEC. You can’t win 7 games forever because eventually they’ll ask you to win 9

Not yet. He is 40 years old and this is his first winning season at Mizzou.
As others have said lets see if he sustains it. Also he didn't build that program, Gary Pinkel did.

Drink's waiting for Saban to retire.

Win 7-8 games and they think you’re the best thing ever
This is not the insult you think it is. We know who we are. Our expectations are 7 to 8 win averages and a 10 to 12 win special season every 4 to 5 years where we're in conversation for big things. If you average 6 to 7 you will be fired though. Just see Barry Odom. He went 4 7 8 6 and was canned.
7 wins or less this year and drink was toast.

Also only aggy could afford to out spend us for drink or some other destination job like Bama or LSU. He's not leaving us for less.

I like him, if for no other reason than his quote about the Tennessee beating they gave, "talk is cheap, but bourbon costs money"
Thats good shite there

Why not stay at Mizzou and build something there?
