He's not much older than Saban!

And that has what to do with anything? Arkansas had the top rated offense in the SEC. What was their record?
It's not as if he has a ton of talent or depth at SC. Blake Mitchell and Chris Smelley? C'mon.

LSU and SC are two totally different animals. Comparing what Spurrier could do here with our talent to what he's done there just isn't a good comparison. A better comparison would be what his Florida teams did compared to our current LSU teams. The talent road just doesn't lead to SC.

All I know about the situation is that I would be elated to get Spurrier and Tenuta.
As would I. Something tells me that Miles and both coordinators are gone anyway. This is why I feel we need an established, well respected coach that can assemble his own staff. Who would not want to work for Spurrier with all of that talent?

Spurrier took comparable talent and EMBARRASED other programs with it. He OWNED LSU!

The ole ball coach would be scary with our talent. At least he'd stretch the hell out of our field.

who would be OC?
His son in name but SOS would call the plays.

Bingo. It's not as if UF just squeaked by. I don't have any numbers in front of me, but from what I recall those Spurrier led UF teams OWNED the SEC. They usually beat opponents into submission. Whenever they lost a game, rest assured it wasn't due to poor game planning or tactical errors and playing not to lose come gameday. Miles seems like he stills plays not to lose sometimes. People hated SS b/c he ran up the score. I say why not run it up? Stop us if you can. Many people on here upset we didn't "win by enough" vs. Bama, Auburn, SC, etc. are the same ones who despised SS for crushing LSU for 12 years!

Don't bash Spurrier for going 6-6 at Carolina this year. That's a grave yard for coaches. Les Miles wouldn't of even went 6-6 at Carolina ever think about that.

I wasn't. I was defending him.

He has that swagger about him. You can still see it even at S. Carolina. He does not have the talent nor the winning spirt behind him in S. Carolina. He loves to beat teams into submission, run up the score and smirk at them while he's doing it. That dude used to piss me off so badly but I always wished we had a coach like that. I think he's still got the drive and wants to dominate again and go out a winner.

2. Jon Tenuta, GA Tech's D Coordinator will be hired as LSU's new Defensive Coordinator making somewhere around $600,000 a year.
no way we would hire an assistant before a head coach...

Very true. Can you imagine what he could do with LSU's talent?

Oh wasn't really directing it at you just clicking anything to post. My bad
Posted on 11/27/07 at 6:48 pm to Lester Earl
Spurrier would be the OC.
Posted on 11/27/07 at 6:48 pm to ForeLSU
We would if the head coach made a tenative deal and agreed to it. Also, you have to move on coaches like that when they are AVAILABLE. Tenuta is a great coach and only available because his boss got fired. Also, it's possible that we get GT's AD back over here soon so there may be more going on than we know.

Probably. But that was a 3rd down call with the team already in FG range in the 2nd quarter with his team ahead by 7. Not a 3rd down call with time running out down by 1 in the 4th.
Besides, I like the trick plays Miles has run while here. The Doucet pass to Flynn, fake field goals, even his first game as LSU coach the fake punt by Chris Jackson in our own endzone. I knew then the man had balls.Balls don't make them good decisions, nor does it make you a smart coach.
